I'm doing a similar build to my 05 ZHP. Couple tips for you. You NEED to reinforce where the rear end is connected to the body or it will rip out from under the car. And that rear will only last up to about 500rwhp. I'm having a custom 3 link and solid 9" put in mine, and having it connected to the cage as well. Also, for motor mount, trans crossmember, and steering shaft, contact justin at vorshlag. They are having those parts laser cut and should be available next month.

If/when the Canbus system integration is figured out.... there will be a lot more e46 swaps coming down the pipeline.

Good to see a project like this happening. Should be sick.

O yes ik about the rear sub frame...ive seen seem pictures of the sub frame ripping out of the car....lol and I will straight axle it after I get the car running. Ive looked at Vorshlag's site and the mounts wont work with a 4l80 trans and i think they have the motor forward compared to what I'm doing.

Yes it would be nice to kinda use the gauge cluster but im not going to...trying to make the car as lite as possible and function....Ive gotten rid of the abs and all the brake lines and heat shields and sound deadening in the engine bay....Still gonna look factory on the outside but way diff on the inside....lol

I bought the header kit and started to mock up on the headers but I moved and had to clean a nice place out in the garage so I could work and also we are having a baby girl in the next couple of days so I've been real busy getting the baby stuff ready but I'm getting ready to order a lot of parts....turbo,mini tubs, wheels, tires, and a 8.8 rear end....I'll be sure to put up pictures of the new parts o and sold the blower can for a Bullet turbo cam so that will help will the new turbo...

None of the parts on the rear of even an e46 M3 will be able to handle the shear torque that your set-up is going to product. However, I feel that the proper reinforcements, coupled with a built LSD unit, beefier axles, and the right spring rate and shock combo out back would workout great!

Not sure of the modifications needed, but you should look at what all the high power turbo E36 guys are doing. I would imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to switch your rear suspension and sub-frame out for an e36 M3 rear, then mount up a beefy 750 iL diff. This may not be the cheapest option, but it will allow you to retain the handling characteristics of the e46.

It would be nice to have it handle really really good but itself building the car for more drag race street car/race car....and spending lots of money will get spend but I wanna build it strong the first time lol and IRS I can see breaking a lot...but I'm doing a 8.8 with a torque arm setup and putting a cage in and tying it all together...prolly getting rid of the wiring and **** I don't need it's gonna be more of drag car then show car....so some ppl will get pissed I'm cutting up a e46 but hey it coulda been a M3 lmao

Congratulations on both projects!

I need to get this thread to the neighbor's boy. He is having transmission issues with his E46 M3. I think this is the best solution.
