390 or 408?
Alright i got a 402 turbo setup i am going to have to go through. I am thinking of using a AES 390 rotating assembly with all the bells and whistles. or redo the 402 to a 408. I would be loosing 18 cubes. I want to be around 1000rwhp. Pros and Cons? thks paul.

Going to go through the motor and check somethings out. I have seen a fair amount of material in the filter when i have cut them open. going to put a good set of heads on it. This will still be a blowthrough setup.

I've seen a trust go out in a 5.3/th400 car, and also my first 6.0/th400. Both transmissions are full manual so I assumed that it was caused by the full line pressure at all times pushing the converter into the motor.
Haven't had a rod bearing issue yet in a JY set up, but I expect it to happen eventually.
I would say rod bearing issues shown on the top half would suggest possible detonation or oil starvation.
Freshening up the 402 and finding a possible cause for the material would be a good direction to go unless you need to bore again and step up piston size.

I'd go with 390ci, just make sure you buy a dragon slayer crank not the c-series like i have,, my car made 920rwhp 16 psi,, there still more room for more power but i want the motor to stay alive,, 390ci/stock l92

I had the same exact question as you and almost thought my thread came back from the dead lol. I ended up going 390. Though mine is still in my living room... Ran out of money. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...aes-408-a.html that's my thread on it. Maybe it will help you out. In there Fraser posted a link to a 390 that made 1000rwhp
