Will this combo make decent power ?

I am putting together a 5.3 with a stock lower end and have already bought a few parts for it , now I am thinking I want to add a turbo to the project . I have a stock 5.3 motor complete , a carb intake , a MSD 6010 , a Comp xer287hr cam , and a set of 241 heads that have been ported . I am looking at adding a turbo and using the 241 heads and the Comp cam , I have been told I need a 70-76mm turbo for the 5.3 . I found this one on Ebay fairly cheap -

Will this combo work , or do I need to do something different ?

Oh yeah , on pump gas and without a intercooler ?

For $500 you can do better. That's only a P trim unit. Small turbine. I'd look into a used Precision 76 or a Turbonetics 76. It will cost a touch more but will have a larger turbine. Plus the peace of mind of a name brand turbo.

If you're stuck at $500, pick up a MasterPower turbo.

Ok , I will check into that , thanks . If anyone knows of a good deal on a used turbo , I would be interested . But , I would still like to know if this is a decent combo ? Should I get rid of the cam and get something turbo specific ?

What are the specs on that cam? And what fuel do you plan on running?

That cam really isn't ideal. You'd gain some driveability by switching to something a little more tame, and may even gain power. The LSA on that cam is a bit low for boosted applications.

i have a torquer V3, and im on a 111lsa with a procharger....mine drives fine and my tuner didnt see any evidence of leaking boost... take it as u will

The real deal Precision 76 will prob cost you a little over 1000 for a used one. If you want to spend 400-700 look into a Master Power 70mm with a .96ar or a Turbonetics TC76 or TC78. They will get you into the 600rwhp range.
