Pewter01ws6, a good start would be getting a good intake and exhaust(Full length headers). Check out the classifieds on here, you can find a alot of nice stuff at a good price. Welcome to the site!

I KNOW A GUY THAT HAS AN ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER ON AN SR20. I'VE SEEN IT IN PERSON. HE RACED AND WAS DEAD EVEN WITH MY BUDDIES G8 GT WHO IS ALSO ON THIS FORUM. I'M SURE HE WOULD ALSO HAVE NO PROBLEM CONFIRMING THAT HE SAW IT IN PERSON

Just because it's rare and you've never seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The guy that wanted to build that sentra wanted to be different, and the car has gone high 12's on a drag radial if I remember correctly. I assure you it's no plastic ebay supercharger. Theres a reason they are not very popular at all, and I completely agree with why. Tons of extra battery weight to make them work, and more complication than they're worth. But they ARE out there.
Too bad dyno machines arent plentiful and cheap, then many of the concepts and contraptions that get brought up on this forum could be tested with accurate tools to really see what is going on.

electric superchargers do exist, and reputable companies make them, however, not for cars.

Here is a picture of a electric powered vortech supercharger. note the motor size, it is HUGE and draws a LOT of power, nothing that your alternator will support. This is for a 1 to 6 psi setup.

He used to have a little turbo dodge omni that ran pretty damn fast. Now he's into the nissan game. I'm sure if he really wanted to, he probably could have thrown a turbo on his car for cheaper than what he had into that electric supercharger setup.

The real thing is a big investment but well worth it imo. Start with good supporting mode first so when you make the leap you can avoid a lot of the pitfalls that come with doing it blindly

Garrett did look intop doing an elctric assisted turbo charger. They wanted to have a small -ish electric motor mounted in the center section and driving the shaft. At low turbine speeds the electric motor would kick in to help 'spool' the turbo. Grate idea but thats all it was i think.

**** it! I'm buying one of these. It'll make more power than an electric supercharger

I'm surprised this hasn't been locked yet. Most elec. supercharger threads do. Oh well IBTL

Do the calculation of the power needed for boost*CFM
and you'll get the joke. More power than your alternator
can throw. That's why supercharger belts are three times
as fat as your serpentine belt, and ribbed.

So apparently we can build an entire electric car these days but not an electric supercharger....

All the dumb remarks are really pretty funny in here. Some people just don't want to accept reality.

BMW is putting an electrically assisted turbo on their next 3 series to reduce lag. Only one step before fully electric supercharges. Technology is always advancing, no telling when people will look back on threads like this and wonder why people are so ignorant.

Reducing lag is a very different application from doing the whole job of
feeding a big motor at the big end.

Electric cars do not throw power through a skinny wire and they don't
source it from a 100A alternator (which is 2HP or so max output).

5PSI@500CFM is about 11HP in the gas. If you had a nice 90% efficient
motor call it 12HP electric. That's 600A from your electrical system.
You are not going to get that from the alternator and you're not going
to get it from your battery for anything more than a quick burst.
That puts it in a nitrous kind of use model, not continuous high power
output.

A basic understanding of physics is not ignorance. Calling people who
do have it "ignorant" for not buying the same hype you do, is.
