Looks cool! Would be nice to see a whole new manifold made of a higher grade of stainless while we are at it!

slick **** man.
how much material did it take off to get to that?
would the manifold be to thin to hold the weight of a turbo?
damn impressive either way

Solid idea, I was thinking of doing the same thing with some C6 mani's. Just might have to now.

oh and maybe cut the price in half.

I'm glad everyone likes the flanges!

The drivers side wall thickness is the thinnest part. I think the wall is still around .100" per side. (I have a 3-d model of the flange at work--I will check tomorrow)

I think the manifolds should hold a smaller T4 flanged turbo without problems, but I wouldn't try a bigger T6 flange, or a heavy turbo. I plan on running 2 flex couplers to make sure I don't put extra stresses on the manifolds. I have the turbo solid mounted to the frame rail. I'll try to get a couple pics on here soon showing how they look in the car.

I like the look better than those big clunky 3-bolt flanges!

Come on kurt. I'm sure you guys could get some lovely header style manifolds cast up.

Have you seen the ones AMS have done for the GT-Rs? They are equal length cast stainless steal jobies.

We did one for an ECO years ago and it did not sell well. The Hooker one is priced extremely low if you get two for that price, but I have thought about making something in the future.

You solid mounted your Turbo to the frame not the engine??? Thats just asking for trouble. Its needs to be able to move with the engine no fight it.

Right on the money! Solid motor mounts are the way to go. I am still thinking about a motor plate though.

I hate solid mounts on the street. We have race cars and street cars. I want to be comfortable in my street car. Not get my fillings shaken out. But this my first LS build, Mostly a german car, and SBC/BBC, etc up until this point. Maybe the LS wont shake the **** out of the car with solid mounts. But I doubt it.

I welded up mine solid, couldn't tell the difference other than my down pipe stopped vibrating against the floor.

From what i have seen in recent years its the best way to go! The cast 'header' stuff will be much stronger than conventional tube headers adn can be reproduced the same EVERY SINGLE TIME! Also you can do cool stuff like cast in the mounting points for the turbo and the weastgate!

The only problem is cost as you need to sell losts of them to get the money back. Obviously the AMS guys have done it for the GT-R but its a new car that will sell loads there is a large and growing market place for their kits.

Chris.
