Well, having a 3 and 5 year old, and a wife with her own business has slowed the proccess of getting the motor out. I was able to get it down to a bare block in the car, and just have to remove the trans then I can remove the motor out the top without issues.
I'm sure there's other quicker, easier ways, but this way I've been able to continue to use my garage to put 3 cars into a 2 car garage. So far no surprises with the block other than the part of #7 that was missing.

I don't think anyone is saying that the rear crossover is a miracle cure that will save you from blowing a motor. A bad tune, or something going wrong, or overstressing a part will destroy itself regardless. However, can the rear coolant ports being blocked off end up being a contributing factor, possibly...
