HIP castings?

Casting is spun when alum is poured into the mold, which helps prevent air pockets and whatnot, makes for a denser, stronger casting. Couple that with a massively thick deck like allpro offers and you have a seriously strong casting. Probably the strongest casting you have available for an LS engine at this point, and the ports that allpro offers are no slouch either.

What you're describing is Rotocast which is what GM does to the LSA, LS9 and LT4 heads. Same concept, different application.

HIP stands for Hot Isostatic Pressing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_isostatic_pressing

Correct. Very similar process, that description I gave was my recollection of when Edelbrock put out an ad about the HIP process they started doing with some of their castings.

I worked for a place that did a lot of nickel powder sintering and we had a process that was run for a couple lab projects that was similar to the spin casting, nickel powder was put in and the mold was spun as the material was added, then we had it put in a heated autoclave to turn around and further densify the part.

My experience with the process, nothing compared to what they're doing with the heads though really.

Well that new casting surely has my attention. I had an opportunity a while back to get into some all pro's and intake for around 9 grand and the deal fell through. Glad it happened if this is now available.

Then again, if we all waited for the next best thing to come out, we'd never have ****.

New allpro stuff is the best option, they've just built the strongest setup and I'd put them against any other LS head power wise and I'm sure they're just as capable.

A LS-next block with a set of those bad boys on it would make for one serious piece.

The Frankenstein ported stuff is really expensive, not in the budget.

I wouldn't consider a billet head in the same class as a casting, not really in the same class of product.

Yes there's a couple billet offerings, but johns dead on the cost is I'd bet close to double.

I had them write me a quote for a set of billet heads and when I got it it made me sick to my stomach.

They are doing a cathedral intake for the truck right now.

17 k and then you need a different intake too so now you're at almost 21000 if not more.

That's a bit excessive unless you're doing this to try to make a living

From a cost / benefit standpoint, it doesn't make sense.

LOL so true.

But Anthony is working with Bob @ AllPro on a slightly different set of heads for 2016.

I quoted a set of Reaper heads and intake for Manna and it was over 15K.

Billet heads and billet intake approached 25k.

Bob has always been good to Anthony, and you cannot argue with proven results. Manna has those results to prove their performance, as do many other heads up LS racers.
