Default v1 to v7 ysi

First off let me tell you about my build. I have a 97 camaro with a forged 383 9:1 Cr, stock ported heads, cc305 cam, shortie headers, and I currently have a v1 vortech supercharger and I'm wondering it I put a v7 ysi will I pick up any power?

We had a 403" ls2 99hoss. V1-v7 swap. Made 640 on 14# w v1. And with the ysi at 18# it made 870wheel. And is now on 22psi. Hoping to break the record soon at 1050-1075.

We don't have any 14#vs 14# comparisons, but depending on how much u are making now, will determine the gains. If ur trying to make 700+ on the v1, u wil pick up a ton. But if ur barely workin the v1, u won't pickup much

That's was I was thinking. I have a 7.8 crank pulley and a 2.95 supercharger pulley. I don't want to just burn up the v1 from running too hard. Plus the v7 was free

650 would be pushing it, we had 8" bottom ad 2.75" top and with the filter off and cutout opened it made 660whp thru m6. But that v1 was sooooo overworked. The iats were in the 200+ range bc the shitty votech cooler. We now have a dedicated ice tank an front mount a2w and at the end of the 2k-7k pull the iats are now 65* with half ice half water.

If I were u, I'd focus on a nice a2w or a2a setup before u try a ysi. bc u might of hot the ysi cheap but the rest if the stuff to put it on isnt.

Also consider a 9" crank pulley. That way you can have like a 3.12 or 3.33" blower pulley and still spin the snot out of the YSi with a lot less belt slippage. The YSi loves to be spun.

ASPracing.com will make a 9" crank pulley for around $275.

9" won't fit if u have stock water pump. Our 8.1 has about 1/4" ckearance to the pump.

Bobsmyuncle is talkin about my car. I would like to have a larger bottom pulley but it wouldnt clear an ls1 waterpump. Is this going on an lt1 car? It may work then. The ysi is a much better blower and comes on alot stronger. The v9 and v1 blowers come on but flatten out on top the ysi keeps on pushin harder and harder.
