Iv got a tc78 with a 1.0 ar I got for steal. I was planning on putting this on my 383 stroker im having built. My goal is 600-650 for now, id like to see 800+ eventually. Is this turbo able to meet that goal with out pushing it to hard?

800 is probably too much with that turbo from what ive researched, but 600-650 it will do it and it will be a great street car....i have a 402 on a tc78 and it is awesome for street it spools up quickly,,,,but doesnt do much at top end!!!! i love it anyways

Is there a happy medium. One that spools fast on the street but doesn't die off towards the top.

If you have plans of 800rwhp+, then the TC is not for you. I would definitely start much bigger then that. You need ~47lbs/min of turbine flow to support that level of power. An F1-68 will not flow that much on that size motor as the PR is lower.

sorry
1999 Chevy Camaro with a 404ci (6.7L) forged LS engine. Hand built front mount turbo kit with a 78mm Turbonetics Turbo with a .96 a/r exhaust housing. You can tell in the video how quickly it spools. It is an amazing street car 612rwhp and 666rwtq @ 12psi

I was recently told by the guy at Kentucky Turbo that a Precision 72mm will support my 750hp goal. He had me pretty convinced that this turbo can and will make that sort of power. Many have pushed 76mm turbos to over 1000hp..why should a 78mm be any less capable? Is it the ehxuast flow/ AR or whatever (sorry I just ordered my turbo so I'm a noob)

Exhaust flow is as important or more important then the compressor wheel. You need to know how much turbine flow in lbs/min you need to support your compressor wheel flow.

oh ok, got you. I'm still new at the turbo thing. I have done procharger's and nitrous before. Turbo's seem to be a whole other animal tho. I was starting to get worried for a sec that maybe I bought too small of a turbo with my Precision 72mm. Like you said tho the exhaust flow is just as important.

This is my first turbo car so i'm still learning as I go. So for 600-650 the tc 78 would be fine but if I want to go to 800+ down the road what would be a good turbo that will spool fairly quick but will make that power with room to grow if I want to?

Just use it for now, tune it to about 600-650 at the wheels and if you need more then just upgrade the turbo and sell that one
