Well we have ran into clearance issues with just about everything. Truck manifolds are almost a no go at this time. I think I am going to use a set of c5 manifolds. They seem to clear everything better. Intercooler is mounted, pics to come.

update: we were able to use the truck manis, just going to have some creative bends on the drivers side. I have also located a new "gt45" turbo locally that i think i am going to try. Going to look at it today, ill post up if i get it or not. After seeing others have good success with this turbo i feel like i should try it out and put a little money somewhere else. Anyway, here is a pic of the manifold.

Looks like a great project so far. The manifold looks good, did you weld it yourself? What is the preferred process for welding stuff like this? If you used a MIG, what gas and wire did you use? I know you have to pre-heat the manifold but do you have to post-heat as well and for how long? Thanks

You want to TIG weld it using Aargon gas, with mild or stainless rod, preheat till it gets 200+ degrees and weld away! As far as post heat, I dont do that, but you want it to cool down as slow as possible, easiest way to cool slowly is bury it in sand just after welding.

Hope this helps.

Nice Sylvia OP!~

It was tig welded and I'm unsure on gas or rod. He heated them with a propane torch, welded them then put the propane torch back on them and stepped them down slowly.

Picked up my turbo today. It looks identical to the gt45s available currently except it has no blue tag. It has a divided 1.05 ar exhaust housing that's about all I know right now. I'm goin to take it apart tomorrow and take some measurements. Might powder coat the compressor housing too.

Trying to get the turbo kit fabbed. The guy building the kit for me has a really full plate right now and has fallen behind on his work. But no big deal, he does great quality work. Charge pipes are done and manifolds are done but having started the hot side piping yet. I bought a speedway alt relocation kit and it ended up putting the alt in the way of the turbo. So I ended up cutting the stock bracket and all I need now is a slide tensioner and that's done.

Shouldn't be long, hopefully it's ready to run in a few weeks.

Finally got the car running and tuned. We had quite a bit of trouble getting the car hooked on the dyno. Strapped poorly, my fault. Anyway made 320whp and 490wtq at 3600 rpms. That's right about when it spun every time. Due to it being really late we did t bother with strapping it differently. We drove it on the street to check the tune and wow!!! Made 16psi on the wastegate spring and we left it there, gives us something to grow on. The car is useless on my street tires, effortless wheel spin in 4th gear. Decided to put my slicks on to see if that helped and it did. Made pedaling the car in 3rd manageable and 4th hooked pretty well. Going to align the car, put some weight over the rear and try to get the car to the track. Probably going to put a 10 psi spring in the car and play with the boost controller some too.

Wish me luck.

nice! we made 605rwhp on 17psi in my friends 2010 pickup

on 19psi it went 10.80 at 127 on the foot brake and it was 4700lbs

that had a 2010 4.8l stock 799 heads, but a GT45 turbo and ls9 cam/pac1218 springs and that was it.

you are probably making every bit of 600+rwhp on 16psi with a manual trans

I'm thinking we are in that range and probably 700tq. Saw a stock 302 on yb make 500/580 on 12 psi. Planning on going to 20psi once we get the car lined out. Probably just in 3rd and 4th though. There is a track about 100 miles away that has a Wednesday test n tune. There is a slight chance I could make that. Otherwise it will be 2 weekends from now due to my vacation from this fri to next Friday.

Have any of you guys had you cars on corner scales? Wondering how bad my split really is.

I have revised the alt location. I clocked it further toward the pass side frame rail and added my manual tensioner. I will try to get pics of it soon. I was going to use the alt as a tensioner but I was a little unhappy with the stability and the belt wrap on the water pump.

I really like how you did yours. Will you post a pic of where your downpipe goes back?

very interesting, well done.

it goes up . but to run ic pipe I would have to move battery to the trunk and get around the radiator hoses.

best is a 6.50 at 109 leaving on the foot brake and no boost. im down right now with trans refreshing then ill be back at it.

Ive seen your vids on youtube, part of why I did a ls swap
