Talking What model is this "Garrett

Trying to figure out exactly what its from so I know if its worth getting another and bolting it to a 5.3 or maybe even a single setup just to aid in mocking up.

Hope the pics help a turbo guru or two

Lastly I know its water and oil cooled but what kind of pipe goes here, to connect the wastegate arm

probably something stock off of a diesel truck. looks similar to the turbo on my 7.3 F250 but the outlet on mine is V banded....as for the outlet, there should be something like this that bolts onto it that will have a V band flange for the down pipe as well as a flapper valve for that internal wastegate

edit, actually looks like it is off a power stroke for sure, most likely some sort of GTP38

Looks like a turbo off a A GN. Since it has that wastegate on it and it is a 3 bolt. Plus its "clocked" the right way for a GN. The only thing is that you say its water cooled and turbos on turbo regals are not water cooled.

I know what the piece was to bolt onto the exhaust I just couldn't figure out the "technical term" for google search, but found it. They call it the "Swing valve assembly" I'm sure you can find 'em anywhere on the internet, but here's a site I found that has some shown so you can get an idea, towards the bottom of the page. some of them have a V band flange on them, others have an additional piece that's bolted onto the housing that then has a V band flange on that. (this is why I figured it's a stock diesel turbo, probably off an older International. Most of them have a "warm up valve" between the ehaust outlet and the actual Down pipe that shuts the exhaust a little bit to raise EGT's and make the engine "work harder" to help it warm up faster well that's the idea, still takes half an hour to warm up 4 gallons of oil in an engine in the winter)

Thanks guys! I was told its off a GN, but I did not believe it, but it was free so whatever. 87Silverbullet, I erred there. Its only oil cooled. Thanks for the site SS4, just wish I could tell for sure. Might make for a great turbo.

Thats a Turbo off a GN correct. You can tell by the 3 stud inlet and also the 4 bolt discharge. It doesn't appear to be stock as the stock turbos did not come with a billet seal plate, may have been upgraded. I'm 99% sure I have that swing valve in my core pile if interested. I'm doing spring cleaning right now and have about 800 cores outside in bins deciding which ones to scrap. I can dig through that pile tomorrow if need be. I would be willing to sell you one for $25 plus shipping.

As I thought I had one in my buried in my cores. Its off older FI RW Drive Gm cars, and the 84-85 GN's. This will save you the trouble trying to fab something, locate one seperate from a whole core or going external Wastegate. I just realized you are the cheap-*** who tried to low ball me after I already took your low ball offer on my stall convertor. As I said $50 bucks + Shipping.

Cheap ***? I negotiated with you via pm with tact, do don't disrespect my thread. While I appreciate your input I am not that pressed especially now that I know what I am looking for. Posted a WTB thread on a few turbo forums, I am sure someone on there will do $25 plus shipping since these are throw away items when guys upgrade their down pipes.

First off that turbo looks too small to put on anything LS related unless you plan on buying that 3.00 stroke crank that guy is selling the classifieds.

Second, I don't know of one person who would use that old internal wastegate elbow. Mine hit the garbage can as soon as I got my Terry Houston downpipe with built in elbow.

Third, put that turbo on ebay or one of the turbo buick forums and get a more common 4 bolt or t6 turbo

I don't think you understand what you are dealing with here. I was selling a Vigilante 3500 stall torque convertor with barely 2000 miles on it and only asking $350 bucks for it. This guy offers me $250 I say **** it why wait around and deal with 50 PM's so I take his offer. His next PM is him low balling me again saying oh you took the offer how about $250 shipped. Needless to say I sold it to someone else and this guy is a serious low buck racer. I literally pulled that turbine housing and swing valve elbow out my core scrap pile is that is going to the metal recyclers. I think it will fit perfectly on his project.

Tony, I am sorry your vagina is sore about the deal. If you have beef then pm me, as for the turbo issue, its a learning thing for me and I am getting much needed info. Now on to what matters, thanks Bullet, I was just weighing my options. I will toss it and move to something else. I know the T70's with a .50 A/R may work for a twin-turbo setup.
