Default How many of you DD your cars?

there is a post close to this on here all ready but i want to push that question a little farther. The reason i ask this is cause im about to sell off all my toys other then the 2000 camaro ...its the only one paid off lol and im thinking of running it NA till next year that way i can keep the power low enough to DD the car and it stay together. What im wanting to know is how many of you DD your cars? meaning that if its broke you have no way to work or school or what ever? what are your set ups/parts/power you drive it around on/miles you drive it a day.

For you that dont know i have been running a stock cube LS1 with 317 heads and a 80mm turbo. and a KY-TURBO kit. car made 720/680 but i had a bearing let go. I know have a 408 with same heads and a 88mm. My thought is to take the turbo stuff off and set it aside till next year after i buy a truck then put it back on and let it be my toy....that or put it all back together and put a 5 ps1 spring in the thing and leave it and not run at the track. either way it will be my DD so thats why im asking how many of yall DD your cars

I daily drive mine...all of them when they are running. But ive never had less than 5 vehicles ever....except when I was 16 I had 3. Would never want to allow myself to get into a situation where I couldnt be somewhere due to a failure of a vehicle. Having only 1 vehicle is pretty risky I think, irresponsible almost. If I couldnt afford a decent vehicle i would still have multiple and they'd be beaters....as long as I didnt have just 1.

Buy a 30+ mpg beater. I use a 91 civic, looks like crap, half the crap works, but gets 34-38mpg. Helps to save miles on the other two vehicles and cost ~$300. Actually paid for itself in the first 6 weeks in fuel costs.

I used to daily drive mine till I got a daily commuter car. Although I never had any problems daily driving mine, I'm so thankful for my daily. Best investment I ever made and it saved me so much in gas

I DD my Ws6 for a few months already. Now it's not anything crazy like 700-800 whp, only in the 5's for now lol, but don't use it for a DD for the main reason bc I work in a cement plant and it dusty as hell all the time. If I did it would destroy the paint like everyone else's car I work with. I drive my
Lil crappy ford focus that's gets 30mpg and I'm content with that. I would love too use my car more then a weekend warrior, but for all the hard work and money ive put into it, I just don't wanna see it go to **** bc of my job. If I was in your shoes buy a beater for $500-$1000 bucks and let the camaro eat. Even if you only get a year or two out of the beater it's still better then the wear and tear your putting on all the money u have hung up in the camaro.

i have to agree with everyone else. the beater is definitely the way to go. other than some liability insurance it really saves lots of money and wear/tear on your pride and joy. heck i drive my beater about everywhere i go now. it is sweet to fill up on 20 bucks and last about 2 weeks v/s filling up @ 50 bucks and not lasting no time and knowing my nice ride will be around alot longer is a big plus also.

Yeah, buying my Z28 to daily drive was one of the best ideas I ever had. I know alot of people are saying to get a crap beater for the DD, but my Z28 was only $4500, and I have a 1.5 mile commute to work, so I really didnt care about gas mileage or anything.

Now I have ALOT of parts interchangeability. I actually did the first start on the TA, with the camaro's stock LS1 intake manifold, because I was waiting for parts for the Edelbrock one for the TA.

I currently DD the GTO in my sig. The clutch + the Tick master makes traffic loads of fun, but besides that it's been doing just fine on the current setup for the past 2.5 years. Granted, it wasn't DD'd all of that time, but there would be weeks where it would be and plenty of fun drives and road trips. Right now I'll switch week to week between this and my 03 VW GTI.

I have been DD my car lately since it's not raining and gas hasn't been too bad with my #60 injectors. But I also have a beater accord that I usually drive. But if your gonna daily your car low boost and a good tune and you should be good to go as long as everything else is sound

Plan to DD mine, even when I slap the Procharger on. No worries from me. Friend's mother has DD'd her Procharged 01 SS for years, from 04 to present.
