Frank my receiver tube for the parachute mount is 1.625x.083 moly. I used a piece of 1.5"x .250 wall tube to make my parachute mount and just bought a class 1 dropped Reese hitch from Walmart, cut the square tube off and welded another turned down 1.5x.250 round tube in its place. So basically I have a round receiver hitch on my car. Then I took a piece of 1.75 16ga stainless tube, slid it over the 1.625 moly and welded it to the bumper for support.

Nice car, really like the craftsmanship! So what gear were you running on drag-week, how much boost and how big of a camshaft?

Well that makes sense because of the bigger camshaft it will always like more gear ratio. I have been following stock48 from this boards build and his combo is: LQ4 6.0, cleaned up 317casting heads, factory truck intake/T.B., intercooled, E85, 218/218@50 cam with 570lift 112l/s, S476 T4 turbo 20psi boost 3,300lbs, powerglide/3000 converter, 3.23 gears and has been as quick as 8.39@164mph in the heat of the summer and driven 3hr roundtrip to/from the track. I'm building a very similar setup except with a LQ9 shortblock, 317castings, 220/224 cam, S475 turbo, TBSS intake, powerglide/3500converter and haven't decided on the rear gear just yet. The highest I plan on turning the engine is 6800-7000rpm and I want to be able to cruise the car for 100-200mile trips and may even take on drag week next year.
