Default External Fuel system help ??

Hey guys My t-76 turbo truck project is coming near completion
I have a few questions concerning what you guys would suggest in terms of an external fuel setup
What i plan on doing is running a RCI or custom cell in the bed of my truck somthing like a 22 gal with a rear sump
what I'm wondering is what i should do for fuel pumpor pumps? I plan on making close to 600-700rwhp with the current setup
what sort of pump are guys going with ?
My thinkking is going -8 from the cell to billet fuel rails aand then coming back with a -6 is this going to be enough size to do what i want ?
I'm going to stay away from aeromotive pumps all together .I've heard too many bad things about them
what other options do i have for fuel pumps ?

thanks in advance

jim

I made 746rwhp, and run:

Weldon 2025 pump
Weldon regulator
-10 to front, -8 crossover, -6 return
SS Racing fuel rails

My setup should be good to 800rwhp, maybe 850rwhp I know I have room to expand.

I hear Bosch is good too.

weldon 2025 pump
aeromotive---filters,pro-series regulator,fuel speed controller
-10feed Y fitting to two -8 one per rail and -8 to the regulator -6 return
Speed Inc. rails and alumium tank!

(this may be overkill)

2fast4u that is one Crazy setup how much power are you making
you have any pics of the setup
I was told that the aeromotive pump controller is a good idea to keep these larger pumps to live and not burn themselve up
where in the does the regulator go in your setup before the yblock ?
so 10- into the regulator and split out of the regulator into the rails ?
Cool setup

well it is still at the shop so no pics. the plan is to go -10 feed to Y then two -8 lines one per rail then -8 off each rail to the regulator. I don't know if it if the regulator should go before or after the feed to the rails? We plan on 600hp on motor(TT) then 100-150 on NOS. That is why we whent with the Pro-Series regulator the extra ports for the 2 stange wet shot! And I like room to grow! I only thing I don't have is Fast or DFI so 600hp will be all the Maf can take for now!

Why not go with a double pumper setup like parish8 has in the stock tank. Might take a while to get but, those two walboros flow like crazy evidently.

The setup looks like it could be fabbed up in a day or so if you had time.

well I was worryed about reliability. And I don't think the stock lines can handle big power!

The truck setups use a manifold referenced pressure regulator on the fuel rail with a return back to the tank. The truck fuel rails have a HUGE inside diameter also. The stock setup with an inline pump has already been tested to around 600rwhp. This was parish8's truck with a whipple and a N20 wet shot being fed off the shrader valve on the stock rails. The truck setup is pretty good. With two walboros pushing fuel I think a stock truck system could do what you want GMC SKI.

he knows about my set up but doesn't think it will cut it. i really dont know how far it will go but if one 340m is good for ~600rwhp on the trucks then 2 should be worth at least 100hp more. i am thinking more like 800-900rwhp but we will see

Yeah, I was mainly explaining some of the differences in the truck system to everyone else.

Hurry up and get that turbo stuff on so we can find out what the stock truck fuel system is good for.

It seems to me that it is like dumping a gallon of fuel in a straw all at once. I mean I guess it works but there has to be side effects?

I've got a lot of time an money into my truck with a motor heads cam all the other stuff not to go all out with a fuel system
i don't wanna be the one to test the stock system to it's limits on my built motor
Not fun being broken not going to take chances
Lets not get started with the turbo kit ..

My setup, -10 to the front passenger side rail, -8 crossover, driver's side rail goes into my regulator, regulator feeds back to the tank.

I also have two filters with my setup.

your right to some extent, with most pumps you will loose alot of flow with very high presure. it would flow alot more fuel if the lines were bigger. the good thing is the 340m pump will flow alot even at high presures, even as high as 90psi it is still flowing quite a bit of fuel. the 2nd pump is staged so it just sits there till there is a certain amount of boost.

there are alot of ways to do a fuel system, the things i like about this set up is the reliable pumps, quiet, stock looking and super easy to install. time will tell how much it can support.

Well I have to agree with the quite part that weldon sounds like there is a supercharger in the trunk! I wanted to make a little box to deaden the sound but there would be heat problems!

see I think the y it to two line one per rail is way better. This in one rail out the end into the other, well seems the last injectors in the line would get much less press. But I guees with a big *** pump and a good size line you would be ok, and I like the cleaner look of less lines!
