Default Anyone running a FAST intake with their blower?

I'm wondering if the 90 mm version would help compliment my Vortech when it goes in.

My goal is 500 to the wheels , stock bottom end.

Anyone out there running one on a FI setup yet?

What were your gains?

TIA

I'd like to know as well! It would have probably already been posted though.

BTW, I thought you went with an ATI D1SC?

I have the lsx with a d1, almost finished the d1 install, should be done in a few days. However my low compression setup with the lsx did 430rwhp so should be interesting what I get with the d1.

no I got a Vortech. Heard too many horror stories bout guys blowing up their bottom ends and having belt slip issues with ATI's.

My thinking is this, with the bigger intake my blower won't have to work as hard to make power in fact I probably won't make as much boost so I'll have to pulley down to make up the boost loss.

i wish I could do some testing before I plunked down the money. Maybe this guy I know will let me throw it on to let me see what it does.

I'm a guy who has to see for himself in order to believe.
This intake with some AFR heads and a blower cam should be wicked

Yes but a turbo or a centrifugel supercharger will be affected the same way by the larger intake. Such as lower boost levels but same horsepower.

The intake really won't effect boost. BTW spending over 1000 bucks on a intake and TB is kinda nonsense on a FI car unless you have done every other mod out there. Just use the LS6 intake and call it a day. Save your money , unless you have already bought the intake. If so, it won't hurt you at all. But you won't get a lot of RWHP out of it.

In a previous post it was pointed out that there was no need for a 90mm TB if the outlet on the turbo or blower was smaller than 90mm because that is the most it can flow straight off the unit. The LSX may show an improvement and drop in boost as its plenum volume is larger than the LS6s and and the runners have a higher flow rating. Therefore, the 78mm LSX may show some decent gains, but paying extra for the 90mm would be a waste. For reference, a 3inch discharge tube is ~76mm so no need for a 90mm.

This is assuming the only difference between the 78 and 90mm is the opening and plenum volume and runners flow is identical.

Ya and your pushing over 800 RWHP on a Mustang Dyno. I doubt you would gain much from a LSX intake Steve. I'm sure my ported Weiand intake helped a little, but not much.

I wonder if on the 6.0 motors and the big 427s if the 90mm will help though. It makes sense to me that you wouldn't gain much on stock cubes. But I can't wait to see what Speed Inc's new setup does.

Hopefully, someday all this LSX intake talk will have been settled after being tested with all the different setups. It's just gonna take awhile...

5 liter what gains did you see with your manifold? do you have graphs of before and after?

I'm probably not gonna do this but I thought I'd ask if anyone out there was running this on their setup. For now I'm gonna run my ls6 intake and run a blower cam on the stock heads. My goal is to get as close to 500 rear wheel as possible. Don't want to go over 9 lbs though. Keep in mind I am an auto. I'd be real happy if the car goes 10.90's the way it sits.

I will have numbers at the end of the week for you. However with the low compression setup I still did 430 rwhp untuned with the lsx in place and no blower of course.

I have a stock bottom end & heads, 224 114 blower CAM, LS6 intake, Ported TB, FLP Headers, P1 and I was putting out 470 to the rear @ 4.5 psi (6 speed), I just upgraded the pulley from a 3.4 to a 3.2, I am hitting max 8 psi @ 6,500, I have not dyno'd yet but if this isn't 500 I don't know what is... I agree with Rob, I do not think that the LSX is worth the money with stock cubes....

5... I can't wait to see your numbers

How would using the LSX intake compare to using a sheetmetal intake like the one that SpeedInc sells? In particular, a big cube motor with a big turbo?

Here is a link to the SpeedInc intake:
