Well done again
Wrap wasn't too hard, I watched a lot of youtube videos that teach you how to install it. And I'm a self-taught welder, I started on a crappy harbor freight flux core welder!

fastest being a twin turbo ford gt going 212 to the half..

bunch of ctsv and stuff doing 160ish.

a viper and some exotics going 130 140ish..

just curious how that compares to a full mile?
They don't give us half mile speed at this event. but 212? that doesn't sound right, unless it was the worlds fastest ford GT with that crazy "urban camo" wrap. the worlds fastest camaro does the half in like 199 i think, and 256 or something in the mile

I did, but my go pro ran out of batteries right before the run!

As for the dyno, the dyno doesnt need to be spun to 200mph. to test if the engine can withstand max load for 30 seconds. You're testing the engine, not the dyno, so trying to run high rollers speeds is pointless.

So a decent load bearing dyno that can hold the engine at your chosen rpm ( ie in 4th gear ) will be the same. Dyno Dynamics should be able to do this, Dynapack ( hub ), Rototest ( hub ), Mainline etc

we tried holding the load but the car was overpowering the dyno. It was a dyno dynamics too. It was actually stretching the straps so much that it was driving up the wheels of the dyno. We had to add 2 limiting straps to keep it all in place!

It seems the Ford GT has been dominating lately in the mile, would you consider that about the best car for top end/mile racing? How does the Viper compare with the C5 and C6 as far as aeros?

Congrats on getting in the 200mph club! We didn't make it there as my buddies LS9 turbo RX-7 wasn't running yet and hope to make the fall event.

Gotta love beating up on $1.2 million+ supercars in a home built creation

It is pretty insane to see what kind of power a car needs to go 200mph+. Good aero is key here too! Luckily the Fbody is pretty slippery.

I'm on toyo r888's with a viper t56

and I'm no expert on aero, but here is what I've figured out. You want the smallest frontal area (think tiny corvette nose vs truck front end), and the lowest drag coefficient (amount of air friction).

you can sometimes increase frontal area to reduce the drag coefficient. (example: adding a big front air dam to keep air from going underneath the car increases frontal area, but decreases drag)

in my opinion, the f body is a great platform, as proven by LMR in their standing mile camaro. Fox bodies seem too square, and the square shape of the hatch isnt that great for flow. A very smooth hatchback would be ideal. this means a base C5 should be better than the more square rear window of the C5 Z06. the big front overhang of the new mustangs seems like it could potentially create lift, but again I'm just speculating.

Yeah the Ford GT is dominating a lot because of the great aerodynamics. rear engine helps with traction as well. The only problem is cost. If you want to do 200, id skip the GT. If you're trying to be #1 in the country, then yeah it might be a good option.

I'd rather get a $5k camaro roller and put $100k into it, than buy a $100k+ car and then have to put $50 in it to go fast. A stock ford GT runs 170-180 if Im not mistaken. Thats on par with a C6 Z06.

I think its a lot more impressive to build a machine to do 200mph, than to empty your bank account on a super car that can do it from the factory...

Top notch man. Thoroughly impressed with what you've accomplished. Most people twice your age cant say they have done what you have. Hopefully this isn't a sign of an early mid-life crisis lol. I'm curious to see what your future projects end up to be. So whats next on your build list ?

haha a beggining life crisis? Im not sure yet. Of course I have plenty of dreams of cool projects, but my next real project is going to be able to buy a house in southern california. Thats going to be even harder than this last project! LOL

I might of missed it but what heads do you have on the car? Also the 747-8 in the background of your shots is a Boeing flight test airplane , most likely doing brake testing at max weight.

it is an edelbrock Pro-port head, CNC'd by West Coast Racing Cylinder Heads (WCCH)

it is a 215cc runner to keep port velocity up and help spool

yeah thats what my dad said! He works for boeing and noticed it right away
