I think with a rear mounted setup with a good oiul system it should last a long time due to endurance. in a front mounted high heat situation, im gussing the quality of a high end turbo will shine more. mostly in longevity. like above said, its an entry turbo to get it up and running. then when you get more coin a nice shine ballbearing big name turbo would be the next level.

My thoughts exactly. If I waited to save the additional cash for a high end turbo, I would have been waiting several more months to a year. Also, the cost to rebuild a "high end" turbo is about the same to replace one of these On3s. For my power levels and goals, this turbo met my needs. I can always upgrade the turbo unit later if I decide to.

must be nice to have a GTO and do this lol more room to put the cold pipe in the middle of the car lol
but it does look great. Gotta make sure i do the same when i get to that part.

Mine is 3400, but I think you'll be fine with a 3200. Best advice is mandrel bends, lots of wrap cover everything, and be mindful of the pipe diameter based on your power goals. I have all of mine 2.5".

currently the majority of mine is 2.25" ..., i likely should have 2.5" but i'm probably not going to change it all out at this point. its going to be interesting to see what power i get on this 6.0L

aw... while i was checking out my turbo i found that my AR is .96 and not a .81 but ON3 is gonna trade me out when then get .81 housings in. lol im gonna run the .96 for now but for spooling, im gonna get the .81 in there as soon as possible lol

Run it first and see how you like it. I'm actually thinking of putting my .96 back on. I found a number of boost leaks and have since got them in check. My dyno graph peaks at 5000 rpm for hp and 4000 rpm for tq. I'm thinking that the .81 might be too restrictive. Going to swap them out in the next week or two and try to get it back on the dyno. Also, I'm getting a boost spike to 12 psi. Overpowering my 38mm Wastegate. Just got a 46mm WG from CX Racing in the mail yesterday. Will be getting that put on as well.

Well Guys I have a question here, Ive been reading about the rear mount stuff, I wanted to do it for about 10 yrs now,,My question is, has anyone got a reliable oil pump yet ? I saw an add on here about a pre oiler for 76 bucks, has anyone tried it ? or is there a better one to use. as for the turbos,,Ive been wondering , but after all the reading, I seem to see if you want it to spool fast get the .81 or if your running a stall or trans break the .96 would be better, esspecially at the track,,,thanx for the good reading........

You don't need to hinder performance by going small on a/r. Wrapping the pipes, using manifolds, the right cam, compression, tune.... all play a bigger part on spool than a/r. That said, if it still doesn't spool fast enough, you can go with a smaller housing.

That is most definitely an incorrect statement. Wrapping pipes, stock manifolds, etc. are all bandaids for an improperly sized Turbine A/R. If the A/R is sized properly to the setup, you should still have reasonable spool time, which will then get even better when you add in wrapping/stock manifolds, etc. I don't care what kind of magical wrap you use, an improperly sized A/R will make the setup perform less than it should.

Absolutely not. I'm not saying to go with something ridiculous like a 1.32. What I'm saying is that, when everything is right, a .96 won't spool much slower than a .81. If things are done right from the beginning, you don't need to choke a turbo with a small housing. A .96 is not improperly sized for a 346. Those things I mentioned aren't bandaids, they're necessary things to help spool in a rearmount without hurting top-end power. A small a/r is a bandaid for an improper setup.
