"Racecars" typically use ECU outputs to do the switching. We don't specify how you ground the wires. There are many many ways. I personally like switches.

The most common application in Drag Racing is the time based control.

"Racecars" typically use their ecu to control everything. Of course that depends on the definition of racecar. If it is a high end race car, it just makes sense to use the ecu take control of pretty much all aspects and run fewer external devices.
And there are an awful lot more applications that just drag racing.
Having to resort to installing multiple switches on the shifter mechanism is a bit over the top.
I would never contemplate it myself.

AVC-R....I'd tend to agree lol But it lights up nice for people who want things that glow in the dark.

I use an eb2 on my c5, and I want boost by SPEED/MPH. What about a GPS device to piggyback or have integrated? As Tiago mentioned, the micro switch option sucks and is unreliable. There is no real solution for late model corvettes to RELIABLY run boost by gear or mph.

Most decent standalone ecu's will do this.

or,

HKS EVC5 seems to suggest it can do it ( Ive never used one so cannot comment )

With 4L60Es and 4L80Es, you could do it by which gear the PCM is commanding (works similar to the input to eboost2, but in a different order).

A lot of good info for getting this to work with an M6 tranny, but I dont think anyone answered the OP's question on getting it to work with a stock ecu controlled 4L80e. It's the same setup I'm going to run and would like to run a boost by gear setup mainly for traction issues, so any help would be great. Thanks

Any chance we could get a couple pics of the switches that are setup on the shifter...? Or what switches you went with? Very cool setup btw.
