Default E85 poll...should i or should i not? Closest station 17.4 miles.

Like the title says...would you run e85 if the closest station to your house was 17.4 miles away? I have a 16gal fuel cell in my car. My alternative is running 91 pump gas and meth/alky inj. Car won't be daily driven but will be driven often on weekends. I am aware of fuel system upgrades etc...i just want to know if you guys would do it if you were in the same situation distance wise. What do you guys think, is it worth it?

Thanks,
Dee

Def worth it. Could always fill up a 55gal drum and store it at the house.

Def do it. I was 30 miles away from the nearest pump. I just drove there, filled up the car then filled up (4) 5gal cans and brought them home. Recently, a station was built 1 mile from my house with e85

100% run that. 17 miles away is worth the drive. You'll make waaay more than 40rwhp running the setup you have. Try the potential for 250rwhp+ more at the cost of under $4/gallon.

Make sure you have compatible fuel line and 35% more fuel pump and inj than you need.

Def. run it. Some of the power gains I have seen are crazy on boost applications.

No doubt. Fill some 55 gallon drums. My stuff has stayed together. NO way it would have lasted as long as it has. Plus the fact it runs way faster!

my reason for saying no, is because thats almost 35 miles round trip. Also, the fuel system for it, costs more. Also the mileage you will get is horrific. Is that all smooth flat interstate, or traffic, and red lights? It wont even be on the F when you get back ?home. Is this your DD? The tune you get for the e85 will not be forgiving in the event that you run out and have to plug in some 91. If this is strictly for racing, and you do not plan on driving it far enough from that station without having another nearby, then sure go for it, but there is a lot to consider. sure the increase in power is very attractive, but consider some of those things. Mine was 9 miles and I barely barely barely decided to use it. I think the best solution would be grabbing the 55 gallon drum as mentioned above. Let me get that link if you find one. Would love to have my own lil home pump.

What are you guys seeing for mpg with e85? This car will be driven on weekends and taken to the track. It's definitely gonna be more of a street car than track. It may be taken into work every once in a while. Work is about 110miles round trip and i have a 16gal fuel cell already. There is also a gs station within 7 miles from my job. I wish more stations sold this stuff!

if you are all about power do it. The numbers in my sig are from E85 and its awesome but like others said the mpg is AWFUL. Now do i care about mpg?? hell no, its my toy and the only time i drive the car is if i plan on running the hell out of it. That being said i got less than 8mpg on the last tank. if i were you, i would just find a steady source for 55gal drums

it is nice being able to tell people i fill up for $3/gal though

Mpg is all in the tune, even with a powerglide I got 20mpg in my 4 door road tripping it a month ago.

i agree fully... BUT driving a turbo car, its hard to keep your foot out of it. Mine was planted on the floorboards, a lot. Thats also why i said i could care less about mpg, because mine will probably never see tank of gas without seeing multiple WOT runs.

Id say no. I decided not to on mine so did my cousin for his lightning. We would have to drive to San Vicente blvd in L.A. so the drive + traffic and storing gas at your house
wasnt worth it.

Dee, I had the same dilemma, at the end it'll be my DD, like A Low mentioned, the station on San Vicente is the only one

Get hp tuners....have a tune for both fuels. Run E-85 and let it eat and if for some reason you cant get to some, reflash it for 91 just to be able to drive it.

Do it. It allowed me to pickup ~150rwhp over 93. I'm getting about 12mpg in my stalled 4L80e turbo GTO.

If I could I would, but since there are no stations int he state of MD that sell it im stuck with 93+meth. And my entire fuel system was built specifically for the use of E85.

Unless you plan on 20+ psi of boost, you will be fine with 93 and meth.
