I am tired of seeing all these damn 5.3s going so fast..

Yeah...... I'd rather tear apart a 5th gen, add 100lbs+ w/ 5.3 & turbo & make it a ragged out overweighted piece of **** streetcar
#125
It's not that it raggs the car out.
It's that matter of fact that he has a badass motor in there and his trying to throw a motor in there that's gona be making the same power but with boost. Which I find stupid.
In a boosted motor its prone to have more problems than a all motor setup due to their being less parts to mess up.
****, if I had a all motor setup in the 600whp in "my car" I wouldn't touch it. Lol.
Now if he messed up his motor and wants to replace it for a 5.3 with boost now that's a difference story.

I find funny that I'm getting a lot of opinions about 600rwhp on motor and that or more power in boost. By guys that have probably never had neither.
Do what I have done and you might realize where I am coming from.

Been in the diesel world for a while now. Wasn't a bad concept and didn't work to bad but I believe the conclusion came that it wasn't worth it. Was sweet though to have 8 lbs. when you stepped on it then have a monstrosity that would never spool be lit in no time with it.

Use some 241or 317 heads. Ls9 gaskets and studs. It will make more than the 7.0 with enuff boost and on pump gas. Drop the compression and let it eat.
Makes sense to me.
The high compression 7.0 is gonna come apart with too much psi and hi compression eventually and take all those nice parts with it.
Makes more sense to sell the current 7.0 and buy or build a motor for alot of boost.
Nothing wrong with running the stock 5.3 over the big motor.
I would do the same thing.

hotside is pretty much all tacked together.. I need to cut off the stub on the merge and weld in a 45 bend to connect the other side.. But its all tacked together... dual 2.5 to single 3... then down to a 2.75 into the t4 flange... The other pipe in the pics is going to be the cold side pipe.

whoa whoa whoa. dont be hating on 4th gens now. Fbodyjunkie or not.....FOR SHAME!
#135
Yeah that 4th gen comment caught me off guard as well.. I've got about 12 cars ranging from a 57 Chevy belair, 4 different 2nd gen fbodies, 2 different 3rd gen fbodies, a c6 vette, etc... And probably my all around favorite car is my lowly little 4th gen (01 Trans am Firehawk, cam only car).
To each there own and I wish you nothing but the best on your project, just take it easy on the 4th gen"ers" ....
And personally I think you'll dig the 5.3... Lovin mine in my 78 trans am!

hotside is all done and tacked together with a homemade merge and a 3inch flex coupling......
Going to route the cold side next.. and pull the 429in motor out in the next few days...
