yea and a f1r is rated to 1300 but has cars going 4.78 at 145+ in a 3300 lbs car(comes out to like 1300+whp threw an auto). but then how is say a large frame or even a mid frame 88 rated for around 1500fwhp. but still your recommending a 94mm turbo(1600 crank) for a car shooting for 1k wheel.

While that may be true those cars are meant for that and every part of their equation is perfectly adopted for that blower or turbo. While in this case, its a street car. Plus the guy is on somewhat of a budget. A PT94 is $2600, where an X275 88mm is $3700..

Yes. If you're happy with it then go with it. It seems like a full proof plan. Make sure he pins the main caps. Thick Deck Head and LS9 Headgaskets with Properly Torque ARPs and you're set.

if he's on a budget, why not a 47-88? you can find em all the time in good shape used for $12-1400. i got mine with a handful of 1/8 mile passes, looks like new, and hot coated for $1300 and is good to either 1450 or 1500 hp depending on the website you're viewing. that's a pretty decent bang for the buck imo and isn't as heavy as say an 88mm bw turbo. just a thought. but i AM a newb actually hahaha

The GT4788 would be nice. I would use Garrett over Precision right now. Seems to be some problems with them. See if you can get a T6 verision if not a big A/R T4. The 4788 Turbine is somewhat "small".

yea if your shooting for 1000. just go with a t6. dont try and make a t4 work cause its just a waist of time if you run into back pressure issues on the t4. then you would need a new merge to t6 and a new turbo in t6

For a budget build you cannot beat the BW S480 96mm turbine 1.32 a/r. Will make 800 + rwhp all day long for around $800-900 brand new. They are a great unit that can easily be rebuilt into other sizes when you max it out (billet 83, 88mm). Very reliable units that you never hear about failing.

I've owned a 80/83, 80/87 and presently have a 83mm billet/ 92 turbine.
presently at 706/649 hp/tq on a Mustang dyno, converter unlocked and 14% slippage of the torque converter
390, etp heads.
