Default What crankshaft...22psi....single 94mm....iron 408ci...????

Manley (CHINA)
Dragonslayer
Magnum
Compstar (CHINA)
Lunati

Anyone think Manley or Compstar should be used?

I got a price of $3800 for a Dragonslayer, Ultra I beam rods and Diamond pistons with rings and pins....completely balanced, ready to install. IS THAT GOOD?

What are people using that are making 1200+ RWHP........serious drag set up?

Mine will be a 100% street car on street radials.........

The rotating assemble for $3800 seems like a nice price. Are the pistons set up for boost?

I can't say too much but IMO the Dragonslayer, Magnum, and Lunati are all good pieces. Persoanlly I over-build stuff and would go with the Magnum.

You mean Drag Radials right? Your talking 1000-1200rwhp with a setup like this. You would NEVER get traction.

Yes boost pistons and upgraded pins.

Well, what I was trying to say is....this car will NEVER see a drag track, its a 100% street car. No hard launches on slicks at a track. YES, I'll probably put some nice Hoosier drags on it if the weather is nice. I'll have another set of rear rims with street radials if its wet out or might rain and I happen to drive the car.

With the proper set up, traction is 100% possible.

Hate to sound like a Dick but , you're wasting your money building for that much power and not running the car on a prepared surface. 700 rwhp will annihilate street tires on the street just as well as 1200 will.

I would think the dragonslayer would be plenty strong, same with the ultra I beams.

That is a pretty good price on rotating assembly , dragonslayer will be enough crankshaft for what you are wanting to do.

Come to Miami......I'll take you to the street races. You will see more than a dozen 1,000+ RWHP cars smacking the throttle from a 50 roll and running to 180mph. My friends car has 1280 RWHP, TT Heffner Viper.......50-180 rolls are insane....NO SPINNING.

People just have to learn to drive THEIR cars......and roll into the throttle. Anyone who just smacks the throttle at 50-80mph on a car like this....is just an idiot and shouldn't be in it. Learning your car is key. I have no worries at all my car will stick from 50-180 IF I take those 3-4 seconds to roll into it properly. I see these cars run all the time.........

Traction is the least of my concerns, building the proper engine is top priority.

Okay thanks for the info guys. Just to be sure I wasn't trying to argue, just understand.

And I wouldn't count those M/Ts as street tires lol.

Ok....well forget the China stuff than.

I guess I'll go for that complete rotating assembly. I'll chat with my builder and see what he can get it for. Go from there....

Thanks....

BTW....how much are a set of Oliver Billets? I can't find them.....
Are these the best, strongest rods available for the LSx.....?????

I would say the strongest rod for the LS would be a GRP Billet Aluminum rod. But thats a no-no for a street car.

But it is a street car......lol........And why are GRP's not good for a street car?

Also.....I just got off the phone with a guy that was telling me H-Beams are stronger than I-Beams........IS THAT TRUE? I thought it was the other way around......

Yes and no. I'm not sure they type but their are two types of metal used it I-beam applications. One is like a factory replacement and the other is strong as a brick shithouse. Take a Scat I-Beam and a Scat H-Beam for example. The H-Beam is stronger because of the metal used the way the rod is designed. Now take a Scat H-Beam and a Callies HD I-Beam, the I-Beam is stronger for the same reasons.

Dragonslayer Crank, Callies Compstar HD I-Beams, and Custom Diamond Pistons would be my choice.
