Default Another FI Fuel question...

How's this look? I set it up this way per Aeromotive's directions. Aeromotive says the best place for the reg is at the end of the rails so there it went.

I ran the return off the reg over the intake to the stock feedline.

I used this type of fuel fitting to slip into the braided line and into the quick disconnect of the LS1 feedline

Now if one day I want to sell off this stuff piece by piece it will be easier to go back to stock since I didn't have to lose that line or hack it up.

Don't mind the elect tape on one of the ports a -6an plug is suppose to be there, jegs forgot to ship that with my order so I am just waiting on that. I also have to hook up the fuel pressure sender/gauge.

Whaddaya think?
J

PS I have more pics in the fuel forum

i love that intake!!

but im sorry to say i really wouldnt rely on that clamp set up.. especially on the pressure side of things.. i'd get a barbed fitting or another clamp or something.. you dont want that baby comming apart!

Thanks Dave Pics don't do it justice and its kinda of dirty right now
I put a flare on the end of that fuel fitting(it's not there in the pic) Do you think that will help keep the line on there? Speed INC sends two clamps with their install kit. How much pressure is the return under, I didn't think it would be that much<-Fuel system noobie

I used a fuel injection clamp(that's what the box said lol) and figured that it would hold with the clamp and the double flare....... time to throw another one on
I am just worried at when I prime the fuel system that I will have leaks at every connection and hose lol
Thanks for the input Dave,
J

oh thats on the return side? ok not so much pressure long as its after the regulator yea shouldnt be a big deal, id flare it or put another clamp on it for good measure though sure.

my rails go in one, out one over to other and in and out and have not had any bank/bank issues at 900+ flywheel with -8 line.

Man that intake is prety sweet! under hood looks great, how old are you? NoGo could be right!
I have the same rails and reg and mine is just off on the pass side wheel well. but it is about 10" of braded line to conect it.
mine works well.
Good to see another go fast that likes to look good to. the way i look at it is if it looks good but dont run you can still show off a little! hehe

Well mine is in front of the driver side wheel well. Not sure I like that sitting on the front but that's just my 2cents. Good choice on regulator though.

Dave, yep its on the return side. It now has two clamps, you put the scare into me I am glad I double flared it before I did the install. Glad to hear that you have it set up the same way. I was kinda of hesistant after reading 2fast4u post. I can see his point though if I was running a big N20 Wet shot that might clear the rails on the hit. It should meet my fuel demands just fine, especially with the power you see.

NoGo, Thanks on the intake.
Here it is before it went into that damn engine compartment

Glad to see another LS1'er who runs the reg this way. How's that schedule lookin

Noyzee, I saw a pic of your engine compartment on B-mans site. I saw that you have the reg on the pass fenderwell with a length of braided line connecting it to the rail. Great pic and it let me know that atleast one person had it the same way as me lol.
I am 28 BTW, I also tried to polish them up but they must be coated or something because none of my aluminum polish worked....I tried though, the bling woulda gone great with my SS radiator cover and intake Time to break out the polishing bits when swapping in the bigger injectors.

02BlueFirehawk, Thanks, I had the CAS unit but sent it back to get the Aeromotive unit. At least if it breaks, Aeromotive is easy to get ahold of. CAS on the other hand
I woulda located it to the pass fenderwell like noyzee but it mounted up pretty easy right there and its solid as a rock. I was concerned that the vibrations from the engine might do something but I am sure it will stay, especially with these dudes up above are having good luck with similar set ups.
Thanks again all,
J

That thing is sexy!
B-Mans site is pre engil yank, when i did my new setup i went threw the hole thing, I painted the block, waterpump, everything. every nut bolt metal pc on it is painted black or silver. and i put a set of ESP alum valve covers on ( i polished them up tho!)
It looks much better now. MR-B put up a couple picks on the eastern section of the new stuff it looks prety good.
as for the rails, the first time they dont come out very well, it took me about 2 hours to realy get down on them, but once they are done they stay prety well.
NoGo, seperated at birth is a no go, hes 28 im 24, maybe he's my dad? j/k

Thanks Noyzee, I'm not that old well.....maybe....
I was thinking about getting them anodized red at a local shop, but I think the rails with a mirror finish will really set it off. Time to put a little more work on them. I'll check out the eastern section for those pics. I wanted to paint the block/heads red or a smooth silver but ran out of time when doing the install in my driveway. Now if I can only get NoGo to fly out here and get my car running as good as it sounds.....I just might have to trailer it out there.

Id polish them!
I spoke to nogo about that he said he would do it, but hell you should tow it here and hang out. we can make a weekend out of it. race sat morning and party sat night. Let me know, you'll be in good company.

Ls1Speed did say that "in one rail and out the other" is fine with these rails, because they are so big inside. Some type of "Y" to make the fuel run parallel would be a must, if you were trying to do this into the stock rails, though.

Noyzee, I would definately trailer the car out there to get it tuned. I need to get it running first and see where things sit $$ wise. I spoke to Kevin through PM's and he is an awesome dude to talk to. He told me the samething. If I could hold off a month or so, he would be able to fly out here and tune it, for a fee of course. I just don't see the car getting tuned anyway else. I sure as hell don't know what to do with an editing program lol But if it looks like it will be cheaper for me to go out there with the car, I'll be there.

I will polish up the rails though.

Kyle, I used some tripoli and 3 inch buffing wheels I got from harbor freight, finished up with hand polishing with eagle aluminum polish. I'll be doing it again when installing the 42.5's But I think they are clear coated or something because they stayed kinda dull.
