Well guys... I'll shorten it up a little bit.
I got there after everything was put back together and a couple failed attempts at starting it... Trying to place blame on the injectors/tune/etc we fiddled with that stuff for the longest time. Martin (fbodyunkie) and BJ (previous D1 kit owner) tried their best to walk us through everything they could.. Martin was kinda thrown in last second as he knew nothing about the setup.
My idea, and Martin backed it up, was to flash the complete 370 tune BJ had gave us over and see how it did. There were many differences but we felt this would be the best choice. (Me and ls1freak were definitely in over our heads as far as the tuning side went so even though we were doing it correctly and it wasn't the issue, HUGE thanks to both these guys! Martin offered help the day before yesterday with any of our builds, I wasted no time hitting him up! LOL).
I hadn't really paid too much attention to what was going on as we were "sure" it was the tune and most likely the injectors.... The more things we tried with the tune the more I was sure that wasn't the issue.
I started to think about the problems we were having and narrowed it down to an electrical issue... Then I landed on the battery acting up... Swapped batteries with my truck, same issues. Ended up the + battery has a problem somewhere.. Justin held the cable so I could get good connection and we could start it.. It turned over and started on the first key turn.
Bad news: Horrible knocking in the top end somewhere.. I couldn't hear it as the exhaust was extremely loud... We switched so I could hear it but he couldn't keep the car idling long enough for me to get a video so we switched back so he could get a short clip of it idling.
We also got two scans off of the idle, I don't know enough about reading it to know if it was good/bad/etc.. We're going to let someone look at them.
Here is the knock:
I had started it once and kept it idling for about 10-12 seconds but didn't have the camera out... We wanted to keep it running as little as possible but still grab a video so it is short.
SIDE NOTE: In the tune we got from BJ the firing order was changed from the traditional Ls1 firing order to a different order... Anybody have a reason behind this?
He was running a 370 with the EPP blower cam.. This stumped us and Martin. We kept it the traditional Ls1 firing order on the tune for Justins camaro, the only thing we didn't copy from BJs tune.
I'm thinking it is a push rods/spring/lifter problem.. Justin is thinking knock.. New ls7 lifters/used dual golds/used (by me) push rods.. The PTV and push rod check both came out OK, cam was installed dot to dot.
