Thanks man. I wish this was on the stock 10 bolt though, ha. I was using my buddies moser 9 inch with 3.25 gears in it. Unfortunately, a 10 bolt will find its way back under the car in the next week or so. 9 inch is in the plans for winter upgrades though, along with a bigger turbo. After seeing what you have done with stock bottom ends and a S480, I think that is the route I am going.

No need to change the turbo, you are just starting to get it going!! Keep on pushing it, there is more there for sure!

It seems to hate life at anything above 16 psi or so and just doesn't feel the same. Also, power drops off fairly hard at 5700. I had plans on switching to a 5.3 and keeping the turbo but I have someone locally interested in mine and I sold my backup 5.3 when I needed a new trans. I just don't know how much more I can realistically get out of this turbo on the LQ4. We will see what happens though.

Camshaft? If not one properly specd will help wonders!

Speed Inc. TU1. I know the cam isn't helping, but I'd feel bad ringing the guts out of this turbo to go any faster, lol. I wish the charge pipe wouldn't have blown off my last run. It was showing over 18 psi on the log until that happened. I imagine it would have went 145 or so.

Change the camshaft up to something spec'd for the smaller turbo on the bigger ci. It will help it a lot as far as pulling harder higher in the rpm band. I plan on pushing this turbo as far as it will go next spring in my car. Gonna probably see 20+ psi with racegas on a forged 370 with a nice top end. Goal is to try and take out some cars with larger turbos with my small setup. I'd love to see 1k rwhp on a lot of boost and c16 but it all depends on how much air this little turbo will flow...

Figured I would throw out a little update on the car. Picked up a T6 S480 92mm 1.10 ar for the car. Started on the hotside this past weekend as well.

Everything will obviously be cleaned and painted to make it more appealing to the eye. Some other changes include the following...

Tick Custom Cam - 225/231 .621 /.598 113+6
9" with a 3.00 gear and new driveshaft
Tunnel mounted TA
Bigger trans cooler
Move alt back to stock location
Boost leash controller
Battery relocation

And...if funds allow for it...

TCI shifter
ABS delete (already not using it)
Cage

Hoping to have it running in March sometime. Then have it tuned by MaxxMitchell again. Will have a backup 5.3 with Gen IV internals in case the LQ4 lets go. The cam was spec'd with this in mind. Hoping the 80e lasts through the year until I can have it beefed up a bit. Should have some more updates this weekend.

Dave@WS6store has helped with the car from the very beginning. He deserves a lot of praise for helping it get to where it is.

I think you will be very happy with that turbo. Funny thing is the cam and turbo are very similar to mine, just with a 6.0 motor, haha. Mine is a 227/231 at .598/.598 with the same turbo. Boost comes in fast! I can only imagine it will be even more fun on the 6.0 motor you have.

Yeah, a lot bigger physically than the Turbonetics was. I am excited to get the turbo away from the radiator/fans though. Should help to cool things down.

I noticed you are running the same turbo. One of the reasons I wanted Martin to spec a cam that would work in both the 6.0 and potentially a 5.3 if need be. The 6.0 and 2 1/4" hotside should make it spool nicely though. Question for you, or anyone else who may know, but is the oil feed port a 1/4 NPT? Just going to pick up a NPT to AN fitting for it and from what I have found it is 1/4 NPT but wanting to make sure.

Curious to see any guesses on what the car will trap with the bigger turbo and different cam. It trapped a best of 142 mph on 16 lbs. on the previous setup which was around 650 rwhp. I would have guessed it to trap 144-145 on the 18-19 lb. setting but didn't get a chance to make a clean pass last fall with it turned up. Are high 140's obtainable on this Gen III LQ4? Will the turbo take me to 150+ if I have a motor that will stay together?

I can't believe you still have the car! I should have bought it long ago.

Honestly dude, I don't remember. It has been a while since I bought the fitting. But I sent LilJohn a pm. I am sure he will respond.

You should be able to take the gen3 internals to ~150mph at your weight. Power wise, id take it a lil further than your last setup and then start looking at ways to lighten the car.

Yeah, there are a few easy things I can do to make it a little lighter, but don't want to strip it completely. It's already pretty light being a 1SC car. We will see what happens though.
