Default Twin turbo with upside down truck manifolds!

Well this is going to be a twin setup with truck manifolds that I modified to be able to flip up side down and forward facing. This leaves a ton of room on the Passenger side for the downpipe and a bunch of room on the drivers also.

I am looking at doing some budget turbos on this thing. So I am open to options as to anything that may work besides ebay specials.

Engine is a forged 370 with 317's, 4l80e and stock ten bolt to get it going for now.

Well here are the pics and that is a 4" piece of pipe going over the K-member and I probably have room for a 5" in there.

Thanks guys. I was trying to find a way to run the downpipes without buying a turbo K and got the idea to cut them up from a few other variations that I have seen.

I'll be adding the wastegates to the top of them at a shallow angle after I get the v-bands on them.

That is what got me thinking. I already had the drivers manifold done but it was facing down on the passenger side. So I flipped it over and cut up the other one.

I didn't take any pics of them before I welded the pipe on but almost the whole primary on the first cylinder is cut. I have a few extra that are half complete that I will grab some pics of after lunch.

Cool man, glad I got you thinking. I haven't seen anyone do it like this and thought it would work. Mine should be running in a month or so.

Bill, I just got some MP T-70's (.68 AR) for my car, just about the most budget set of twins I could find that weren't ebay ones.

Yeah I almost bought some the other day but I've been looking at Precision units now.

precisions are nice for sure, but I couldnt beat the price of the MP's vs what precisions cost. This is about the best price i've found for the 62/66 CEA's with billet wheels.

The only thing that makes me nervous is how thin the tubing you used was... I would have done it with blackwall pipe or thicker tubing. Cool concept though, and I'll be interested to see how it turns out!

No reason to go that thick. Bonnarsls1 has done this on one manifold and been like this for a few years. The rest of your exhaust is that thick. If it doesn't work out I'll redo it, but I don't foresee a issue.

Look into the turbonetics hurricane units. Pretty good budget turbos.

Yeah the only thing I could see being an issue is expansion/contraction rates of the thicker and thinner material. The thicker will retain heat longer, while the thinner will shed heat quicker. I'd just keep an eye on it for possible cracking, but it should be ok if you support your turbos well.

I'm not trying to be critical at all, just throwing it out there.
