5.3 sts???
Stock 5.3 shortblocks have been able to handle quite a bit of power. There are a few that have pushed them to 800 rwhp+ with stock rods ,pistons, crank and heads. Could be pushed a bit further with good rods and forged pistons......
Running a stock 5.3 has been the craze lately with a ton of success. Whatever the "upgrades" are, I'm sure you would be fine.

My 5.3 is a bone stock shortblock. I've got a custom ground cam, ls9 head gaskets, and head studs. Other then that it's stock (including the 5.3 heads). With my comp oiless rear mounted turbo it makes 769hp to the rear wheels on 20lbs of boost.
Engine had about 30k miles on it when I got it...and I've been driving the heck out of it since we got it done.
