Problems with 99 ls1 block?

Default Problems with 99 ls1 block?

Newb here. These are all new to me but I've been researching/reading like a mad man and now I have a few questions for the ls1tech scholars.

I'm going for a 750whp DD. I have an early 99 ls1 out of a Camaro. I am planning on rods, pistons, ARP everything, block girdle, 76mm/s400 turbo, and the other peripherals needed for the boosted set-up.

My concerns are that I've read that the blocks tend to twist or have issues with longevity in high hp applications, and that there is a problem with oil supply.

This is one of the articles that makes me think I have a block that is no good for high hp due to the oil supply issue:
ls1 information

Is this true? Can I machine the block to improve the oil flow, add a girdle and call it good? If I do it again I'll get an lq4 and not have these problems, but this is what I have for now.

Well the iron 6.0L lq4 blocks look the same between the rear oil galleys and don't seem to have a prob.

This it's how my oil galleys look:


The other galley looks like there is a hole there. Not just a channel in the cover.
And has any one heard anything about the aluminum blocks distorting?

At 750hp you will not have to worry about the stock block flexing or cap walk. There are plenty of them on here at that level just be sure you use quality parts (oil pump, bearings) and set the clearances correctly it will be fine.

This is a great read! Thank you! It is exactly what I was looking for.

I have friends that are nay-sayers to the early aluminum blocks, and that iron is the only way. This makes me feel much better about building this block.

I reported my findings on here and this thread, but I have a few friends that are saying that the aluminum block will destroy main bearings and "twist down the main line on blocks up to mid '99". I'm just trying to get more information so I can elaborate to those that doubt why there is nothing wrong with using the 97-99.5 block.

numbers in sig with a 99 block and i believe its an early 99 block.. ive seen plenty of 99s make good power.
