It was 346ci, th350 trans / 3600 converter. Those races were @ 11psi, after it blew the tires off in high gear I took my time accelerating so it wasn't as brutal. The cobra made 520whp.

These are iron blocks I'm assuming? I just find it hard to believe this is a fatigue failure in the aluminum due to ice expansion.

Potential root causes:
1) entorque load + aluminum block
2) detonation
3) ice expansion - fatigue failure

Any more?

did you have all 4 coolant ports hooked up on ur heads or did u have the back 2 blocked off?
