I see several things that could go against you during construction that will end up giving you a less than desirable result in the end. For one since this is a convertible you have no structural integrity. You are planning to cut and remove even more parent metal that keeps everything square and true. This type of work requires a frame jig that holds everything together during fabrication. This is not something you just do in the garage. Next concern I see is possible damage to the front end and you proceeding to install a front half without making sure its straight. If you want to do this right start out by having the front rails checked and repaired if needed along with a new k member. If all is well then install temporary bracing then it will be ready for the jig and cutting/ fabing and cage. I would not do another thing to it until this is done.

There are "grassroots" ways to verify straightness. I figured he'd use those methods. It's worked for years and years and doesn't need a crazy shop. Guys also successfully align their road racing cars in the garage. It's not common, but it's done and done well enough. You can find the methods easily online.
The "average" guy can do really exceptional work with ingenuity and hard work.

Well, I haven't really been working on the car much.
but, Ive been spending money like its going out of style...
Bought a Baliegh Manual Tube bender, a drill press, and a tube notcher. TIG is next on the list, and then Ill be able to make some real progress on the chassis.
Put in an order for tubing as well
100' 1-5/8" .083
20' 1-1/4" .083
10' 7/8" .049
10' 3/8" .049
Should get me pretty close?
Going to be building a metal shop in the next few weeks, which will open up some room in the garage and help keep it cleaner...

ha thanks, shes a great dog.
Well, I got the 25.X spec books, and read through them, looks like a lot of fun.
TIG welder is supposed to arrive tomorrow...
Still waiting on my tubing... My "Steel" deal (pun intended) turned out to be less of a deal, wait is now going on 2 weeks. :/
Haven't worked on the car since the weekend I got it, but Im getting a lot of other projects done around the house/garage.

Well, we've been working on building up the shop a bit.
Tube bender
Drill press/tube notcher
Bend-Tech PRO (bending software)
Miller TIG
and we just finished putting in a new 12' workbench for all our metal fabrication.
Next is beefing up the heating system... It's getting cold!
I have a few more shop/house projects, and then Ill be able to get to work on the car
and I still need to pick up a plasma cutter, I have alot of metal to cut out...
