Default Project "Because Streetcar"

Hey guys...

My last build was a 454 LSX Street car, worked on it for 3.5years.
"Finished" it a couple months ago, and was almost immediately bored... :/
So... Im parting it out. 454 Shortblock is already sold, as well as the headers. Just have to pull it out today. Sad day.
I wanted this next build to be an extraneous amounts of fab work... ie: front half/backhalf, 4 link, etc.. It will end up similiar
to a 10.5 outlaw build, but without a 25.3 cage and with the ability to roadtrip. End goal for the car is a nice cruiser with
more power than I can ever need/use, so I won't get bored.. I'd like to try mile racing, and I sure wouldn't cry if I could
get an 8sec slip.

Powertrain:

Right now, Im think a 427 with a 98mm turbo, would be good for ~1500WHP

Drivetrain:

Undecided, I like driving a manual (Level VII T-56 Magnum) or I was considering a RMVB TH400... of course coupled to a FAB9

Chassis:

I decided with how cut up this next car would get, that it would be stupid to use my current Trans Am... I thought a lot about
switching to an FD RX7 or mustang, just to try something different, but I like the LS T/A... So, Im going to put a stock LS1 in
my Hardtop T/A and sell it.. and then today, I bought a convertible Trans Am. It used to be Ronnie Dukes, built by W2W/Hardcore

UPDATE: 9/9/2012: Bought new chassis **PAGE 5**

Run a 400 or a glide. Dont waste your time with a 6 speed. Good luck it sounds like fun!

Put a 4l80 in it. Big power turbo cars SUX with stick trannies...especially if you ever want to run any kind of a decent number at the strip.

A 4L80E is an option, Ive never had an automatic, and Id really only be interested in switching if someone could testify (lol) that the increased speed, would be worth having a grandma transmission...

Umm, semi-reliability in an uber fast street car.

I think I really want to do a big single build,

Also, as far as the size of the turbo

A 370 with an 88 mm can do mid to high 8's.
A 404 w/ a 91mm and T56 has done 202 in the mile on here. Killer-LS1
106mm and street doesn't really add up except for bragging rights and you'll need some room to catch a smaller turbo setup.
For street only, a 370 with an 80mm or 347 w/7675 is more than you can use.
Post what you really want it to do or you'll get responses all over the place.

It will most defiantly be faster with the auto. Go look at the top drag week guys. They are all running 400s, glides, or a big $$$$ tranny like a lenco, liberty, or gforce.

For now, lets assume the car will never see the drag strip...

ok well for a "street car" I can tell you the auto will be faster hands down. Trust me I know first hand in my other car (procharged 555 with a f2) that the glide is what you want with this kind of power.

I understand that. but on say a 60-130 pull, where I would only have to shift once... It doesn't seem like very much would be left on the table...

No way that you build a car of this caliber and only run 60-130
