Default On3performance junk!!!!

Well this is awesome. I already know everyone is gonna say " I told you so", but here goes. I was in the middle of converting my mkiv supra from twins to a single. And I'm not the typical supra owner. I'm not loaded, I'm currently a 21 year old guy unemployed having a hard time getting by like alot of people are in this market. But this car came up cheap and I couldnt miss the opportunity. So I did some research and heard some bad things here and there and some good things. And thought they cant be that bad it seems like a lot of people run them. Well I bought their 76mm journal bearing turbo and also bought the restrictor "chad" insisted I needed to make the turbo "last". Well the turbo lasted literally 18.3 miles at 10psi on a 2jz. I drove around the block a couple times an then to dinner one time when the **** hit the preverbial fan. The bearings must have went bad allowing the turbo shaft to go side to side destroying 3-4 fins and cutting the compressor housing quite a bit. Shaft probably has 1/8-1/4 inch of side to side play and some in and out play. So I opened a dispute and emailed "chad" to try and resolve this. His answer was to pull my turbo and send it to him so he could fix it. I obviously know this guy is not gonna return my money or do anything to fix this. Especially after he see's this. I just figured maybe a couple people would see this first hand and maybe save someone else from making the same decision and wasting money. And I hope "chad" see's this one day, if so chad, you suck. Having a hard time getting the pictures on my laptop, but I will post some up.

Sucks to hear about the turbo but how do you know he's not going to make things right after he
said he was? I dont know the guy but I would at least let him try to do things right. Thank God the
motor didnt get hurt.

I have screen shots I was gonna post that are emails telling me he's not gonna do anything to fix it since I left negative feedback. I really dont care to get another one. I've done some more research now and have discovered alot of other people getting screwed by this guy so I'm just cutting my losses. I've still gotta pull the turbo off and my intercooler set up and make sure none of the ceramic made it past the intercooler.

shitty deal, but if youre having a hard time getting by, and unemployed, i probably wouldnt be buying a car, and parts.

there was a thread on here about a month ago about this company and their junk.

Ouch! I haven't seen one fail like this before. What size oil restrictor were you using? Chad recommended I use a 1/16" because my oil pressure gets up to 80psi. Haven't ran it yet, doing supporting mods first.

That sucks. Looks like you got a bad one. I've been running mine for 4000 miles with no problems knock on wood. I'm not running a restrictor. Just -3 feed and -10 return

What I don't get about the guys over at On3 is all the conflicting information that's given out. Just from reading posts on here, it seems like everyone is told something different depending on who they speak with. When I bought my turbo from them about 6 months ago, I spoke with a guy named Mike and I was told to run a -4 feed line with no restrictor, and at least a -10 drain. I also have a 76mm journal bearing turbo, with no problems so far. Anyway, sorry to hear that happened to you.

Man, that thing looks like it was starved for oil and ate up the bearing. Hang in there man. Did it blow chunks through the charge pipe/intercooler?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune man. One thing I read on this forum, and practice, is to completely dissassemble the turbo and clean them. Some guys here have said that when they took them apart they found debris in them. When I took one of mine apart a few months ago it was dirty. Before I do my final install I'll make sure to clean them up and use assembly lube on everything. It's cheap insurance.
