I have a glide and the only thing i wish i kinda had was lockup.

And not even for the street, drives great on the street........ but rather for the bigend of the track ..... the lockup of the 80e has me jelly in that one aspect

Not tune related. Cruise control senses the car slowing, increases throttle. The torque converter lets it rev to 3k, it speeds up too quickly. Senses over speed lets off throttle and on and on.

Only while on a grade which is all the time here in MT.

With a lock up or super tight converter this doesn't happen.

cant outshift the computer. i would not want to sacrifice my rear gear ratio to justify saving a few bucks. i love manually shifting when im street racing or messing around...but with any serious horsepower I honestly prefer to have my hands on the wheel as much as possible.

You can definitely outshift a computer, my th400 does it. Put it in drive and go. Best decision I made with my truck. cruising with 3.42 gears and a circle D 3200-3400 stall Im at 2,900 rpm at 70.

Yea there is no sense in paying for the name if you can get one built just as well for a whole lot cheaper. My TH400 was only $900 and that included the core!

I agree paying for a name sometimes isn't needed, but man Rossler is a name that would be worth paying for IMO.

I went the 4l80 route in my build after weighing all the options. It came down to 3 things, lockup, OD and the ability to go full manual or automatic depending on my mood. I grabbed the Circle D 4000 rpm lockup billet converter to go with it.

4L80 in my GTO with a MVB from Jake's Performance and a TH400 RMVB from Rossler in the Camaro. The Camaro is more drag race oriented so I chose the lighter 400, the GTO is more of a cruiser so I wanted OD and lockup and didn't care about putting on a few pounds. Different strokes... but I really do love the OD and lockup for a street car. If I were building the Camaro in current times I would be highly considering a 4L80 but when I built it many years ago a good MVB setup for it wasn't really available.

I actually prefer my th400 rmvb with the hammer shifter. I have a couple of 4l80's in the shop right now. How do they work with a mvb? Is it actually electonic, do they work well?

Can't speak for all of them just Jake's but it works flawlessly and it has a transbrake as well. He has a small box that supplies power to the solenoids with an additional wire that is grounded for the brake function. I prefer MVB for the simple fact that in low traction situations I can force a higher gear early and ride the converter out.
