Default Copper Head Gaskets

I was just wondering if anyone is using a copper head gasket. If so, which one are you using? I was looking at the Flatout Copper Head Gaskets with Rubber Coating. I was curious what people are paying for these and find out how they work. Just checking out all my options.

How often do you pull it apart for rebuilds and are you running pressurized water in the cooling system?

At least twice each year; stock radiator with electric water pump; water/water wetter.

you have to replace the gasket each time right.
you have o-rings in them too?

how does everything hold up at that power level stealth?

Just finished a 408 for an ATI car using the Flat Out gaskets. The block was o-ringed and the heads have receiver grooves. Not fired up yet though.

9/16" head studs, orings, receiver grooves, copper coat and a .050 copper gasket has solved our head-lifting problems. But with too much timing and too much NOS, they will lift again.

I got mine in today. We'll see how they work! I am a bit confused about the rubber coating though. I thought it would be a bit different.

Tiff....I am just gonna say that on the over 13psi boosted cars I've built, and then on Campbells old motor I swapped them out as well to make sure I didn't scorce anything in the combustion chamber.

We always used a non copper head gasket so JUST IN CASE we had any type of detonation it would probably blow the head gasket 1st and save the motor. I don't know if the same applies here but I wouldn't be a friend if I didn't say nothing. Take it with a grain of salt or whatever.

Dude, they've been around forever -- my Dad's 1974 Arctic Cat El Tigre snowmobile had copper head gaskets.. That goes back to the year of my birth, so I'm not claiming to know how long before then they were available though

Not many people have traditionally used 'em on street cars, due to the fluid sealing headaches. Lots of racers use 'em, wipe 'em down with solvent, spray 'em down with a little pookie of choice, and go at it. We're looking for the same combustion chamber sealing strength (incl. an o-ringed block) while also being able to reliably hold back the water. Mark @ FlatOut assured me he has several cars running these gaskets on the street with great success, and I'm sure hoping they work as well on Tiff's car

It's cool Brains, Like I said when I had the option of buying the metal gaskets for my Eclipse my reasoning was if I were to detonate that badly I'd hope that it took the HG and not my piston or valves....maybe that was dumb....but noone starts out knowing everything right? I've broken my share of things, but I've made some nice rides too...can't complain.
