Default Comp turbo or PT7675

I'm building a 92 mustang coupe with a 6.0 nothing special stock 317 heads, 02 z06 cam, thru a 4l80 and 8.8 . I'm wanting around 650-700 rwhp i was looking at the Precision pt7675 but I've heard bad things that are steering me away. Does comp make a turbo that will compare to the PT7675 or any other company? The turbo kit is already built and wont fit a mid frame turbo so i think BW is out of the question. Thanks for any help

Comp turbo can make you a turbo the same physical size as the PT that will make that horsepower. They back their products 100%.

I "think" that the PT makes more power due to a better flowing turbine. Call comp & tell them that you have a 370 ls & see what they recommend. They have been been working on a couple of similar set ups lately with too much back pressure.

Although I have not seen any back pressure tests with the pt on a 370. I went with twins from them so that I could package more turbine with the space I have available.

I brought a brand new PT7675 myself. They seem too out perform/flow other brands of the similar size. It also will work best with my cube motor and setup. I heard the same thing about bearing failure problems. I got a good deal on it so I brought it anyway. I believe some of the problems are bc of oil flow to the turbo but who am I too say just my .02 cents

Just get the 7675, good enough to go well over 150mph in the 1/4 in a mustang.

With a 6.0? I keep hearing mixed opinions (that's probably part of the problem lol) on a 6.0 with the 7675 being too small (turbine).

We've done it in a fully loaded fox(subs, ac, heavy seats, everything in it) on a jy 5.3, but I think a 6.0 will still do it also.

Comp also has MANY different turbine housing options. You can go with a 7879 which will be the same physical size as a PT7675, but you will have bigger wheels, come standard in Billet and Ball Bearing for right around the same price as a journal bearing PT7675. You can get the turbine housing with a 3" outlet like the 7675, or a 3.5", or even 4". Can also get it in a .96 a/r, 1.15 a/r, or a 1.27 a/r. Plus they back their products and a great sponsor on here (Huron Speed) is direct with Comp to offer you great pricing!

Contact me if interested in a Comp!

I'm also building a 6.0 with stock 317s. Almost bought a comp 7879 but did a ton of research first and found its not the best on larger displacement motors. It will do fine up to 700-750hp but too much backpressure beyond that. Comp can build you one with a larger turbine wheel, but then you're into the midframe housing and more $$.

The Comp will not have backpressure issues on a 6.0l. If you go over 400ci then you may want to look into an all-together larger turbo. Also Comp can make you the 7879 with a 3", 3.5", or 4" V-band outlet and also in a .96 a/r, 1.15 a/r, or 1.27 a/r. With all of these options, we can get you a 7879 that will be suited very well to a 6.0l and not have any backpressure issues!

just for your information guys

Comp can make you a turbo which uses the CT43 compressor cover, CT5 center section with an 88mm turbine or GT50 style turbine and the 80mm billet wheel, that is one badass turbo. Its a little longer than a regular CT43 but physically the same diameter.

Also when using the regular CT43 chassis the cast 7879 or cast/billet 7479 are the only two good options. the 80mm compressors move WAY too much air for the the turbine to handle, this keeps the shaft speed down and makes the backpressure go up dramatically

Comp also has a 1.52 divided turbine housing availible that makes a HUGE difference

Any new info on the subject? What would make more power on 383ci, PT7675 or Comp 7879 (or something custom)?
