Iv built my whole car and turbo kit with the millermatic 140. It's a 110v unit and works flawless!! Plug into your outlet and weld away. Best starter/mid level welder for around $650. Check out all the stuff I fabbed up inu build thread link in my sig.

Hobart handler 140 here. Good 110v welder and will do most small to medium thickness projects.

I've got a small Lincoln mig, around a 140, don't remember the exact size. Only paid a little over $400 brand new. Works great. Next purchase is a diversion 165.

As long as you use .030 wire with 25/75 gas a 110v welder will weld basically anything on your car (just personally wouldn't weld a cage with it).

I agree. I wouldn't mig a cage anyway though. Might as well just go with moly and tig it.

True, my tig skills are not up to par so I paid to have that done, other then that my miller does the rest.

same welder I use, i've done 3 turbo kits with it, and i still use flux core wire. Converting to gas and solid core wire would make it alot better, but I'm just trying to run through this 10lb spool that I have before I convert. My stuff doesnt look bad, for never having any experience prior to buying this one. I got it from northern tool for under 500 bucks with free shipping.

piece I welded a few weeks back, 1/8" steel.

Are you talking the Miller Division 165. If so save some more money and buy a A real Miller Tig. I have a Division and it sucks.. I also have a tig kit for my 302 Trailblazer 100% better welds. Just my opinion.

Flux core does work obviously but gas and solid wire makes the weld 100x's better. I know some people do what ya gotta do but IMO invest in a tank n gas while your getting it all set up.

^^ much less cleanup, and cleaner welds. If you look at my pictures you can see all the excess spatter from the flux core.

What's wrong with it? You're the first I've seen that wasn't happy with it.

Get a real tig. I bought a miller dialarc hf recently for $800 ready to weld minus tank. This machine will put out 250 amps and has a water cooled torch. The smaller diversion has a dry rig and a very small duty cycle on 165 or 185 amps and cost twice as much. Also, when a board fries in them your throw the machine away because it costs too much to fix. Older bp330's or dial arc hf's are all transistors and windings with a few solenoids, not much to go wrong. But yeah back top the op, the hobart 140 or lincoln 140 with solid .030 and 75/25 in the bottle will do a turbo kit with ease.

Go to Eastwood.com and check out their stuff. I've got one of their welders and think it's the best bang for the buck out there.

I have a Lincoln 180. It's a good welder it works good for light sheet metal for autobody work. And it can be turned up for heavy stuff like roll cages. I recently welded v bands to my truck manifolds and it worked great. Obviously the welded are not as pretty as a tig.

I'm not sure on that, you'd have to look that one up.
