You are the man Denmah!! I've been following your builds like a hawk.

This thread is Epic. I've invested about $650 in HPTuners and a factory PCM/Harness for my turbo blazer. I would have gone this way in a flash if I knew about this. My next jy build I will use MS1/6010 combo for sure.

Appreciate all your info and videos, good ****.

Awesome post, thanks for all the info.

Do you still use IAC with megasquirt and are their options for cold start tuning?

the MS1 cant control the IAC without modifications, i know you can add another transistor circut to pass power to it i believe,
you can control the IAC with some versions of the megasquirt computers,

the MS1 has a provision for a "Fast idle valve" wich is like a solenoid that creates an air bleed and raises the idle, there is an option that a certain temp turns off the output

i think it can safely switch 1.5 amps... so if its more than that you need to relay power, but say you set the temp to 110f

the fast idle switch will open the cold start valve when its under that temp, and then when the car warms up it will close. and idle where you set it

honestly we just fill the throttle bodys part that feeds the IAC with rtv or something similar, and we dont use them at all, we set them to idle mechanically at around 900-800 and in gear they idle like 750-650

when we start em we just hold the gas pedal like 20% and then when its at about 100 deg, wich does not take long on a stock thermostat turbo car
you can let the throttle go and itll idle normally.

just hasnt been worth ******* with it on our toys

let me know if you have anymore questions about it

oh and cold start tuning, there is a warm up enrichment table, and a cranking table, based on temperature and they decay as the car warms up they go down a line graph.

i think one of my videos very quickly highlights over it.

but yes the car needs more fuel when cold. and as it warms up, less.

so those tables take care if it, very easy to tune

the microsquirt can do full on anti lag 2 step and a whole laundry list of things like methanol, fans, nitrous maps, fuel map switching, ignition retard based on air and coolant temp etc etc

atomic6 is more well versed in its capabilities.

honestly im not entirely sure on all the exact inputs and outputs it can handle, the crazy thing about the squirt is you can add in what you want, nearly unlimited amount of **** if you want to.

it just might not be available strait out of the box.

Thanks so much for this thread. I have a couple more ?'s.

I'm familar with the MSD as I run that on my Carb LS. But does the MS1 have the capability to data log passes at the track. If so, what all can it log? I'm used to tuning my Buick GN and the software I use allows me to log AFR, Boost and knock.

Denmah, I like this setup. I have an msd 6012 box for my turboed ls2 dragster project. I was going to do a blow thru carb on alky (filled block).
Do you think this setup will support 1000-1200hp on alky, with enough injector of course. I all ready have a vic. jr. l92 carb intake, i could just sell it and run a stock ls3 intake (lsa heads) or heck i could sell the heads, and intake, get an ls6 intake and run my 317s with good valves. prolly have enogh left over to buy the ms1, intake and good rails. What injectors would i need to do this?

it should work great honestly, the ms1 out of the box can do 23psi.

you can order it with a Mapdaddy 4bar map sensor wich reads 44psi

i have absolutely no experience with motors running alcohol or their demands.
maybe use one of those fuel calculators if it can accept alcohol or ask some people on the forums. and get the size and pump you need.

but there is no reason it wont work, i would love to see this setup or the micro2 powering something with huge power one day. besides my own stuff honestly

23psi should be more than enough to get me there. using an s480. this is going in my 245" 4link dragster. certed to 6.0sec. I have almost everything for my build, and my block and rotating assy. are at the machine shop now. this will be through a tci9.5" converter and a stout shortyglide. would like to see 1000hp at the tires. 3.90 gear with a 33.5-16-15 tire should be a blast to drive! I will be starting a build thread in a month or so. I am sure i will be bugging you for some help.

For those with a factory LS1 car, would we still need the MSD box?

I have been floating around forums for awhile now. I'm building a 89 mustang coupe with 5.3 and z06 cam and ebay head studs and a gt45. I'm basically ordering all stuff that you have tried on Fairmont and the Mustang. I ordered the Msd box along with the MS1 with harness tonight. Could you lend me a start up tune for both? I'm new to megasquirt
