Default 347 turbo batmowheel

so im building a forged 347 and am picking out a turbo. im trying to make a super fast street car an go 9's. i need to figure out what turbo to go with. i want around a 72mm or somewhere around there.

just wondering, has anyone used the bulleye's batmowheel turbo? they look like a killer design and they make some big claims on their website, but is it worth the money?

tahnks

I'm using a 75mm Batmowheel turbo.... I think you would be the second person to do this from what I have seen.

I couldn't be more happy. Spools hard, and keeps pulling. I'm making 700ftlbs at the tires before 3500 rpm. I paid extra to have a turbo that would have a lower boost threshold, but still make excellent numbers. I think that goal was attained.

The Borg has a little better efficiency, and more flow out the back end where you would be in kill mode.

Martin, do you have that same plot for a 75mm comparison?

I sure don't Brad I wish I did, I might see what I can round up though.

Basically in very simple terms, that chart is showing that the S480 has a higher and wider efficiency island the harder you push it. When it's not being pushed too hard they are close to the same, but as you turn the wick up more and more the S480 compressor wheel will start to shine.

Im running an 80 mm. W/ batmo wheel on my 347 and Im pretty happy with the results. A few weeks ago we turned it up to 25 psi and made 1063 rwhp through a glide and 9". Im running ported 853's, custom cam, a2w, on e85.

The car went 8.92 @ 159 on 16.5 psi at 3430 raceweight.

I think the chart shows that the batmo wheel has nearly the same efficiency as the cast borg warner wheel (though it looks like the cast wheel is actually better in most areas), and if they are the same mass they should spool the same too. What do you benefit from going with the way more expensive wheel at that point?

That would be a good question for Dr. Turbo to answer.

Yep, just found an article about this. Apparently the regular cast wheel outperforms the batmowheel in nearly every respect, especially price.

Why are these things around then? For the blingy ricer crowd?

I'm running a cast wheel 80mm bullseye turbo with their race cover. It makes good power and goes 9's on pump gas and 10# not really trying...

There are quiet a few Batmo and other bullseye turbo cars in my neck of the woods and they seem to perform pretty damn good when they're set on kill
