I think I may have to change mine. Currently own 3:90. I haven't ran it yet so not sure how it will work but I am running a 1000 HP TT 408 in a 66 Nova. I will run a 4l80e with a 26 inch tire. This is a street car. What are you guys running? Would I be better off with a 3:55?

I'd go 3.25's.

My 71 Nova has around 800rw and an 80E with 3.42's, works good.

Another guys car that I work on has 1000rw with an 80E and 3.25's. Feels good, maybe could go a tad higher like a 3.00.

More power equals less gear unless your running 8th mile or something.

3.00......sounds like what I need maybe. I should be a little over 1,000 RWHP.

What brand gears are best for my Strange 12 bolt?

Does 1/4 or 1/8th mile performance matter?

Less rear gear = more converter slippage = less power being transferred to the transmission and thus to the tire.

What's a 26" tall tire doing on a 1000 horse TT? Where do you shift it? 8000 rpm?

^^ it's a pro touring car with 18 inch rims. Realistically closer to 800 HP on the street.

Why would a 26" tall tire mean he has to shift it at 8k? Some cars do everything not just go in a straight line.

Sorry-I'm narrow minded when it comes to anything but drag racing.

For street use I have a set of 345/30/19's, a set of 345/35/18's and some 325/40/15's.

I use the 325's and some 2.93's for half mile racing.

I'm leaning towards 3:20 or 3:50 due to the 4l80e. I have 3:55 in my camaro with tko600 and 25 inch tire. Less HP but rides great all around.
