Which one tightens up like a cast and gets hard if you dip it in water? That is what I want.

I'm having a issue with burning up plug wires with my up and forward headers. With the dei wrap, can the plug wire sit on the wrap with out it burning the wire up?

I'm not wanting to relocate my coil packs, so hopefully just header wrap works.

Moving coils might be easier than wrapping headers

The headers for sure need to be wrapped. The underhood temps are ridiculous

What are you guys coating the manifolds and hotside with before you use the wrap? The DEI silicone spray or header paint

digging this thread out of the deep dark depths of ls1tech.

For the stock ls1 manifolds should i use 1 inch or 2 inch wide wrap? i think the 1 inch would be easier to pass between the tubes but correct me if im wrong.

How much wrap will i need PER SIDE, 1"x50'? 2"x50'

Ill be wrapping my whole exhaust back to the rear mount turbo so give me an idea of how much ill need

do you guys like the spray or should i just leave them uncoated?

Thanks for the help

Going to be wrapping my truck manifolds before I put them on the car. Has anyone grinded these 'humps' off where the heat shield bolts on?

I dont have any pics of them grinded off but make sure you look inside the end ports of the manifolds, i know one or two of them follow the the nub going out, the rest can be leveled off

I ground mine off no problem. like the above poster stated just pay attention to what you are doing, there are a few on each side that ground down all the way would put a hole in the manifold. I used 2" wrap and was able to get away with anywhere from 25-30ft per side

Got the humps all cut off and smoothed down with a grinder. I used dei titanium exhaust wrap. I bought two 50' rolls. I would say I've got about 20ft of each roll left over I can use on something else. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to come up short. It's possible to use the 25' rolls but I wanted to make sure I got everything covered. I used the 2" width rolls. You can see a hump on each manifold where I couldn't cut or grind down very much or else I would have holes in my manifolds.

Does anyone think this worked out better than keeping the stock heat shields on? Ive been searching for a heat shield for the past week, but maybe I'll go this route.
