It depends. If you have it tuned and can run E85, you don't need it. Now before everyone says how stupid it is, I run a 180,000 mile 5.3 twin turbo, 25lbs of boost, and NO INTERCOOLER. On my data logs, my IAT's are only 90 degrees driving around and even at WOT and full boost I only hit 171 degree IAT's. No issues in over a year and don't ever plan on putting one on. Now on regular pump gas I wouldn't try it.

Yep, that's why I was saying, if you are tuned for E85, not such a big deal. Pump gas 91 and I wouldn't take the chance.

Front or rear mount? I ran a rear mount on 9#s for years with no ic with no issues on a stock motor. Front mount, not so much. You could always get a meth kit.

a lot depends how you drive.. you do quick bursts or long pulls. quick pulls would probably be ok on low boost.
