Project s10
Well after selling my race car project off, I picked up something I've always wanted to do a lsx swap into. With all the fun people are having with stock shortblock 4.8/5.3's I decided it's time I get something to drop one in. It will be nice to not stress over a built motor for once. I'm not looking to push it too hard, just enough to have fun with.
For now the plan is a 5.3 and a single tc76 or similar turbo for fast spool and enough power to make it fun. Not looking to set records or spend a ton of money so all ideas are welcome.... Oh and the truck I found has the bigger 8.5" 10 bolt so that will be built to handle the power.
It needs to be raised a bit, but here is the clean 99' s10 I found.

This build will go fast once I collect the parts. Just need to locate a set of early 4th gen stainless manifolds (or just the driver side anyway). Probably build a log on the passenger side and set the turbo where the battery is......I'm even thinking about trying an on3 turbo......

It looks cool but that's about it, because it scrapes the frame on the curb going in and out of my driveway so it needs to come up. Right now it has 2" drop spindles and 3" lowering springs up front. The rear has 3" drop leafs and 4" of blocks...... The front wheels scrub the inner fenders over bumps also.....

Do you have a rear for your truck yet? I found another local 8.5" 10 bolt out of a 2wd truck for sale if you are interested.

Looks like a fun project S10, and I like the height myself. I have had a couple daily drivers and will start on the 2001 black one with the nice wheels soon. Ran a 13.3 back in 2001 in my senior year of high school with the 4.3l.
The red one had a 5.3l 4l80e combo with a maggy and went 11.8@123
The black one was a L33 t56 combo that went 13.0@108.

I ran a 5" drop in all of them, the black one with the red wheels even had a little bit of coil cut to get it where I wanted. I would not run the 5.3 pan at this stance though. I ran the ls2 ctsv style pans in them and cut the top of the cross member down. The sump of the pan would go almost as far forward as the tie rods. My cousin has one with an iron 5.3l with a truck pan and he knocked a hole in it. I told him it was only a matter of time.

Lifting it is a must. The frame hitting pulling in and out of my driveway sucks! Don't get me wrong it looks awesome, but PA roads aren't exactly known for being smooth either. Thinking a 2/3 drop will look fine....

Very clean s10 man!!! I have that same lower valance on my s10. I like the drop the way it is. Since you have to lift it up some, maybe 1" all the way around? I want to one day built a turbo setup for mine. Good look with your build man! I'll be keeping a eye on this thread!
You should make a build thread on s10forum in the lsx section.
