So what i got out of all this is basically between the two i listed the 475/83 will make more power on a 5.3 than the 80/77.
1.lighter wheel
2.more turbine
And later on the 475 can easily be upgraded.
What do you guys think about down pipe size, will it make anymore power going full 5" or better of reducing down to a 4". It will be open downpipe car.

BW S475/83: 83mm inducer/75mm exducer
Magnum: 88.9mm inducer/77.4mm exducer
Second of all CX racing makes the exact same turbo for half the price. Plus, at CX racing you have the option to get that turbo with a 76mm compressor! I just bought one lol! I'm not shittin you, it looks like they took magnums turbo and ground all the part numbers and logos off of it lol.

Here's mine next to a TC 76/68 (notice the spots on the housings where they ground something off)

The borg has a bigger TW, so it would be better for more all out power.
But, if you are building a street truck than the magnum would be a great choice. Plus the magnum has our 1 year warranty as well.
Don't get me wrong though the s400 style turbos are great but the magnum will most definitely spool up faster.
A larger TW is a necessity at a certain cubic inch/hp goal you need to decide what exactly you want from the motor.
Call me and we can discuss your options.
Thanks,
Rob

Im running a s475/83 right now and it's pretty strong. It's good for bottom 10's at my weight. The turbine is the restriction with the 75/83 I wouldn't add any more compressor without upping turbine. A S475/92 would make more power than a S480/83. Etc. S475/83 should be enough to get 750-800 hp on 5.3L.

The bw 83mm turbine is measured at the inducer, not exducer. If it was measured like pretty much every other company it would be either a 74 or 75mm turbine. The bw does not have a larger turbine than the magnum.

You can see the indications of high heat on the flange. On the xt80 nick put on his truck you can see where the holes for the t5 flange were welded and re-drilled for a t4 flange. Make sure you take the exhaust housing off, clean it out, and check and ensure the flange is true/straight.
that turbo comes to life very fast on a tu1 cammed 5.3

Remember, BW rates their turbines on the inducer not the exducer like most other companies. The BW 83mm turbine actually has a 75mm exducer iirc. I m running the cxracing version of the xt80 and I can tell you it is literally the same turbo except the turbine housing is different. It is 1.15 ar. It is around $600 from cxracing and it is an absolute beast on my 5.3 truck

That's why I was wondering what the exducer diameters were on those two BW turbine wheels. I figured someone would know that stuff off the top of his head. Time to start Googling! Lol

Just saw Ren's post. We just swapped my old on3 out for this cxracing 80 and it is a beast. Like he said, it comes to life real quick with my TU1 5.3. With the old turbo my IDC was at 57% at 14.3psi, with the new turbo my IDC is a 67-68% at 12 psi lol. So it is moving some air! The downpipe flange is a regular 4" v-band and the compressor outlet is 3.5" v-band. I also knife edged the divider on the turbine housing.
