I was thinking the same thing but I think he means the 400 has a lower first gear so he can run a higher gear in the rear.

This exactly.Lol

Question for everyone. What's my ls1 worth like it is? With the Tick cam,springs,pushrods,ls6 oil pump? Still runs great. Got some people asking is why I bring this up.

I would say 1600 or so for longblock with no covers, intake, pan etc.

The th400 is the way to go unless this is about to become strictly drag car. The long gear in the PG is tough without a certain amount of HP.

Im sure they do. I just think id like the th400 better. I don't do any event racing even though I plan on building the car to spec and to pass a real tech inspection. Its just mostly a track visit here and there and drive around the house street/race car. I just want to build it right this time thru and thru.

Like it simple. No electronics all manual operation. Ill have enough cruising gear with a 3:23 gear or somewhere close.

Im gonna order my center section for the rear as soon as this guy picks up my six speed stuff this weekend. Then when I sell the engine, turbo kit, and methanol im gonna put the money back and think hard on what I need to do. Probably go ahead and locate and purchase a th400 so ill have that. Then save a little more and get the shortblock I want. Im thinking im gonna go with an iron 5.7. Tick has one that is all studded out and got all the goods just still has a stock crank. Not sure if I want to wait and do a forged crank that way the only weak point will be the block itself. Lots of thinking to do.

Come get this boost ready 5.3!!! You know you want it....

Stephen mentioned to me that he wanted to do a glide. I feel like I kind of talked him out of it.

To have the glide perform 100% optimally in his set-up he would need at the very least a 3.73 rear gear and even that is too high IMO. A 3.90 or even a 4.10 would be optimal.

With the TH400 a 3.25 rear gear with a 28" tire would give the best combination of cruising RPM and performance. It would also allow him to do long 3rd gear rolls on the highway to at least 160 mph.

I can see RPM @ 70mph being as low as 2400-2500rpm with a nice tight turbo converter. 9.5" from PTC would be my choice.

The tall gear rear will help my quarter mile mph capability also lol. Ill be messaging you a lot Martin in the future after I get everything sold and start getting money together on the engine stuff. Probably gonna do a different cam and everything.

Should be a sick combo when you get all finished Stephan. Smart move IMHO to sell off your 6spd and LS1 while they are still worth something. Are you sending out your S475 for that upgrade we talked about?

My rpm @70mph is right at 2600 with a th400, 28" tire, and a billet 9.5" PTC converter

Yes I'm sending my turbo back to José to have them upgrade it. Saves money from buying an entire new one. And 2600rpm at 70mph I can live with. What rear gear was that if I missed it.?

Took rear apart while I had it on lift taking all manual swap stuff out. Found nothing wrong in the gear/differential area. But did notice my driver axle was turning in the diff but not at the wheel. Grabbed the wheel and I can shake it lol. Brakes is only thing holding wheel on now. Axle is broke in half near the end of the tube on driver side. Figured that would be the last thing to break on the drivetrain. Something new to me. But on a good note I sold all my manual stuff tonight. So now I'll get my center section and install my rear and torque arm. Then I'll post a souvenir picture of the broken axle.
