LSX Real Street 383F1C build
We are in the midst of building a 383 for a new member on here, Hllywd19.. Jon owns a general repair shop here in Schaumburg and we will be working together on this build.
He's got a real nice 3rd gen Camaro with a pretty nice chassis already.. We contacted Madman to improve the suspension even more.. His torque arm, panhard bar, and offset DA control arms are on the way.. Along with DA Affco's for the rear with his valving, and strange DA front's.. We are also taking the time to do a 25.5 right now.
The engine I am building from a 5.3 iron block, it will be 3.905 bore, zero decked, o-ringed, full fill to the deck the only water in the engine will be running through the heads. We got billet mains for it, a bad *** 4" Callies dragonslayer crank, callies ultra H beam rods, and diamond slugs.. Engine should be right at 12.5:1. I have a custom ground solid roller for it, specs are in the 770 lift range and 270's/290's @ 50 on a 114.. Morel 904 lifters, smith brothers custom tapered thick wall pushrods, T & D shaft rockers are mounted on top of the Dart 225 heads that will be receiving full port work in house. Engine will have a CDS gear drive on it, with a F1C blower in front of it for Real Street. We also plan on picking up an F1R to run some NMCA Xtreme Street. We are using the GM distributor drive with the MSD Power Grid ignition system.
More pictures to come along the way..
Here's a picture of the car from the LSX shootout running in the 10.50 rumble class.. It was a 383 with stock 243 heads, and a 228/230 cam, car went 10.30's before.. We are optimistically shooting for 7's with a stock block...
Crazy? Probably!

Update
Its been a couple weeks now, we got all the funny car cage done, bay bars and front end is getting close. Getting started on the headers now and cutting out the stencils to fit in the trunk. Everything we need is ordered and on the way; procharger, gear drive, water tanks etc. Wheels should be back soon from being double bead locked. Just a couple more weeks of fabricating and we should be close to clean up and dropping in the engine and procharger. Unfortunatley we are not going to be done for Bradenton, but if everything goes well we will be in Georgia!
