Question Pickin a super?

I'm looking around right now, possibly throwin a sc on my ls1. I was talkin to a buddy of mine who works @ a muscle shop and he was saying MTI's sc would probably be the way to go. well i checked out mti's site and didn't see any sc setup by mti, i saw an ati though. just wondering if mti does make a sc system or not, or if he was mistaken with an ATI? also wondering if anyone out there could suggest a nice sc, money's no issue, just want the best for my baby. leaning towards vortech's v9 intercooled system, wondering if anyone has thrown one on and if they do push out 140-150 @ the wheels? any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Motor staying stock? You say money's no issue, why not have ur motor pulled put in good rods and pistons to lower your compression to about 9.3:1 to 9.5:1? you can upgrade your timing chain, oil pump, cam, heads, headers.....whatever you want to do....

Now if you want to just basically have a blower put on there from a system that has been designed to work specifically with the LS1 the I (IMO) would call ATI and ask them to ship you one of their 10lb LS1 Kits with the Dual intercoolers so their big one is not in the way. Have a professional like MTI install it, heck Jayson would probably call ATI for you anyway if you just tell him what you want. He could also suggest, a converter to go w/this unit or a new clutch to hold ur new power.

Anyway....that's what I would do personally. Good luck!!

i really didn't want to have to pull the entire motor like that and suffer with the downtime. i have a 99 convertible and it's more of a daily driver/ cruise car, but i just want to have that extra nice little umph when i lay on it. i was looking around for a new converter and from what i've heard so far i'm leaning towards the yank. prolly a 3600 or a 3800 to keep it daily drivable. now, i'm new here so you'll have to forgive me, but does this jayson fellow happen to be able to get a nice price on ati? and how would i go about getting a hold of him? but thanks for all your help, i really apreciate it.

You just want some extra Ummph?? you're not worried about time or nothing like that?
I tell ya what you do, you go get one of these nice new daily drivable cams that are making 380rwhp on stock heads, and yes...3800-4000 is where you need to get a stall.
(Ok this is MY OPINION I honestly don't know of a lot of other places in town I'd trust my car with except for Madman & Co. but he's always so backed up) Take the car up to MTI, and ask to speak with Jayson and tell them you were referred by a friend of his named Kris and you wanted to speak w/him, noone else about ur package. Tell Jayson you are looking for something like a 231/237 cam...he will know what u mean, tell him since the car is 99' that you'd like for them to install, cause they honestly need to replace the oil pump, timing chain and gears, install ur springs, pushrods and all of that. Tell him you'd like to get a converter in the 3800-4000 range, and let'em put it in and then Tune the car on the dyno. You're going to spend about 3300 dollars for the converter, cam, labor, and tuning. But when you drive away....you will have a 380+ hp car that you can drive every day like you Normally have even w/AC Cruise, ect. No worries.....I think that's probably how you were hoping for.
Oh...if you haven't got an exhaust I would suggest them put Mac Mids w/their custom Y-pipe and either a Borla, Corsa or whatever....I loved the Corsa but it's about 900 installed. I don't know how much you have to spend or what ur REALLY looking for but this will turn heads and give u what u were wanting

well, where's mti located? i see ur from tx, i'm just north of chicago. so if it's down there and there's no branch out here i can't really just drive it on over. lol. but i do have an slp lm and qtp headers & catted y. and i did the exhaust myself, so i'm decent with that kinda thing. yeah so far i'm lookin at mti's 2e heads, x1 cam, lsx IM & TB, a new maf, a converter and either a charger or nitrous to top it off. i just wanted to stay away from tearin apart the internals of the engine. so ati's ls1 kit @ 10lbs dual intercoolers? i'll look into it. thanks a ton for everything.

Hmm....I don't know what's up there....maybe another member.

Now the Blower kits range from 4K-6K for JUST the kits then you have to have someone install (2K-3K in labor and parts)....so count 10K going the blower route...that's why I suggested the Cam only route.

Try Speed Inc. They seem to have a handle on the FI stuff. One of the LS1Tech founders used them, so I guess they can be trusted. They're in Chi. They're a Sponsor so look to the right and find their site, and the rest is easy.

Or, click Here

If money isn't a problem, why not buy a 500 dollar beater for a couple weeks while you get your engine completley built, with a nice blower with it?
