Default Copper Head Gasket Spray ?s

I'm in the process of putting together a stock 4.8 w/ LS1 gaskets and Alper head studs. Stock 862s. Real budget motor. Looking to eventually push 15lbs with my Huron Speed truck kit and a TC78 or if I come up on a good deal a PT7675. All this in my 99 SS 6spd car. Also will be running a Vic Jr eventually.

So here's my question, a friend suggested using Copper head gasket spray and said it will help from pushing water/added insurance. I searched it but couldn't find to much on it then again who can ever find **** on this site anymore. Pro's vs Con's? Do's/Don'ts?

Take the gasket rivets out and coat the layers one by one then stack them back up in order and install. I always use permatex copper coat been using it for years never had an issue doing it this way.

For the guys who are spraying their gaskets, are all of you using the drill the rivets and spray each layer method or are some of you just spraying the top and bottom?

I guess it won't hurt, especially since the heads and block arent decked It will only help.

i was thinking of the same thing, but I dont think I need it since i have fresh surfaces on the heads and deck... But I still might

The riveted part of the gasket hangs outside the head/block when installed its only purpose in life is to hold the gasket together until it is installed. Nothing to be nervous about at all just stack it back in the order you took it apart in.

We spray top/bottom then install. hit 24lbs of boost on my 427ci no problem.

I wonder with the people that take them apart if they also drill the coolant passage holes to line up since some aftermarket heads are off.

F it I just bought some for the hell of it... You have a point it won't hurt anything ^

I'm not going to spray every layer and pop the rivet out though, the gaskets are too pretty to do that...

^Tis my plan at the moment. Like you said it can't hurt and will only help seal block and heads!
