What turbos for a street driven 427 6 speed car.
I'm looking for advise on what turbos to order for a 427 99% street driven 6 speed car. Not looking to make 1200whp or anything too crazy.
800 ish whp would be a nice for street driving. Maybe as much as 1000 with the boost set to kill for the track.
I'd like the boost to come on no later then 3000rpm.
The two turbo I've been looking at are the turbonetics 6162s and the 6665s both .81AR.
I know they are a little small but I dont want to have to wait for them to come on and I dont want to have to rev the motor to the moon.
The motor is forged with 9.0 to 1 CR. The heads flow just shy of 400cfm.
Any other turbos I should look at.

The .68 a/r might be alittle small for my set-up. What rpm do you make full boost ?
I'm leaning towards the 6665s. I'm just not sure if the turbine size will cause back pressure issues.
Anyone know if turbonetics makes a 6669 ? or something along that line.
I'm trying to stay away from 70mm or larger turbos. Too much power for what I want and I dont want the lag that comes along turbos that size.

As far as when the boost is on full it's around 3000 or so. It just depends on what gear your in and what rpm you hit it at.

Thats what I like to here. I would love to run around on only 10-12lbs and make that kind of power.

We carry Turbonetics 6668's. That is their largest version other then moving up to 75mm turbines. You can also go with the BW 366/73 as well or the BW 366/68 also. Both of those will make ridiculous power also. With the billet ETR wheel we are getting 900+ hp out of the 66/73.

For spool up any of the 62 or 63 mm units will easily make 1000hp and all of them will spool well.

I've been in the supercar Ford GT with (2) GT35R's and spool up was pretty much instantaneous. In the lower gears (1-2) you would want boost by gear or the car would be worthless to drive on anything other than slicks. In 3rd/4th gear the car pulled like a freight train.

Still looking for ideas. I'd like to order these turbos soon. Leaning towards Turbonetics becasue of the price. I want to feel comfortable that I'm going to choose the perfect turbos

I went with GTX3076R's. I wanted it to be most efficient under normal driving conditions. We'll see how it pans out. 62mm is ideal based on talking to several companies though.
