probably only set it up on 10 psi for this summer, and save for a Liberty 5spd, or GForce 5spd.

Its cold here, and since there is only 1 5" downpipe going out the wall, the cold air coming into the room from the other unused exhaust hole is blowing over the hot dyno water tank behind the engine and making fog. when the throttle is closed and the turbo stops drawing in the outside air, the fog goes away. yeah, it looks shitty

71chevy, what do you know about egt's on a turbo setup? the tune I did on the dyno I thought was safe, but I now realize the egt's are very high at 17-1800*. I "think" I caused this by using too little timing in my quest for a safe tuneup. what do you think

Thats possible because the unburnt fuel will cause that. I remember back in the turbo buick days guys would see this because it burns in the down pipe.

BTW congrats on the numbers. Is your carb a home built one or a CSU or the like?

We used an Egt probe to measure IAT's, I wrote AIT over the column, lol. The probe was positioned where it only saw the pre compressor water/meth nozzle, and not the other 2 nozzles. Peak temps seen by the probe was 230ish

I would be one of the guilty party Turbo Buick's in question....and here I thought I was the only one crazy enought to run egt's that high....lol
Just goes to show how tolerant C16 is.
I found that the car always ran fastest at around the 1700 deg mark, but past that you are asking for melting somewhere. As fas as AIT's go, they are high but not abnormal for a blow through setup. The meth helps quite a bit in that department.
I would be curious to see what a second egt would read in the other bank. Add a little more timing and more fuel up top and see how much the egt's drop.

I can't believe these junkyard motors can run so well and make those numbers. Imagine what the previous owner would say if you told him that the engine that was in his truck is now making that kind of power. Lol.

It almost made me jump when the BOV opened, haha.

cool.

I think mine was showing 230 at 8.5psi so you are seeing a very nice drop in IAT even from the compressor nozzles. Im sure its a lot better post compressor.
