Cam only L33 with twin holset HX52s. Looking for advice.
Putting together a new combo for a nissan 240sx "street" car.
Engine:
L33 5.3
Truck intake
660 lift springs
custom cam (going to talk to LilJohn about this)
Ebay head studs
Shortblock will be completely stock, no rod bolts or any regapping.
Turbo system:
Twin holset HX52 turbos - billet 67mm wheels, 16cm^2 rear housing (~1.21 a/r)
Truck manifolds
Very short feedpipes to both turbos
4" downpipe out of the fender for both turbos
Drivetrain:
T-brake glide
Q45 rear diff 3.54
Q45 and 300zx TT axles
275 radial
Goals for the car:
Make around 750-800whp through the glide.
Trap 150mph and then later get the car out of the hole.
Drive it all over the place fender exit and all haha
This is obviously somewhat of a budget build. The reason for me wanting to go with the HX52's is because I can get them really cheap and in nice shape. A lot more robust then these damn precision units too! :p
Anyways my main question is how do you think the spool will be on this setup?
I always thought the 16cm^2 housings looked small but apparently they convert to around 1.21 A/R so it might be too laggy. I don't know, let me know what you guys think.
Thanks!

What is the turbine wheel size? I've got a old hx55 an its got like 87mm exhaust wheel I think the 52s have about the same wheel size just a smaller housing 16Cm2 vs. 22cm2.... But just from a guess its prob going to be a dog on a 5.3l, an hard as hell spool them

Some people have machined smaller hotsides like a 12Cm2 off a hx35 or some Garrett's to fit the 52-55 but for all that money u just be better off with a big single like a bw 475-480 imo

I have a 5.3 with a Ls6 cam, head work, and a holset HX52 6 speed car that weighed roughly 2500-2700 pounds.it layed down a 575whp on 14 psi with a high 9.xx afr..(never finished tuning ran into issues with exhaust piping cracked)..it was a little laggy,so yes in my eyes you are gonna have some lag..
